Calibrite ColorChecker Video Mega

Calibrite ColorChecker Video Mega

The ColorChecker Video Mega is designed for those longer and wider shots when you need a larger reference target. Both will speed up your colour correction process and save you hours in post. Use it to nail exposure, match multiple cameras and maintain consistency during changing light, so that you can tell your story as perfectly as possible. Measuring an impressive 1020 x 1520mm, the Mega is the largest target within the ColorChecker Video range and is an ideal tool for the following photographic scenarios and more: Cine – wide shots: landscape, cityscape, custom sets Event filmmaking: concerts, churches, sports, stage Aerial filmmaking: drone photography The ColorChecker Video Mega provides an extra-large format for effortlessly capturing the target at greater distances and wider angles. The Video Mega is designed for shoots when the space between your camera and subject is too great to capture a smaller target. This target eliminates the need to move your camera closer or adjust the focal length of your lens, allow you to shoot in the same lighting condition that is falling on your subject and minimise colour casting from any surrounding light. The ColorChecker Video Target includes: Chromatic Colours: Six saturated and six de-saturated colour chips aligned with video production Skin Tones: Six colour chips from light to dark with different undertones Gray Levels: Four larger steps for even gray balance, including white, 40IRE gray, deep gray and high gloss black reference patches Linear Grayscale: Six steps for even gray balance, including highlight and shadow regions Illumination Check Chips: Black and white colour chips at two corners to better assist in determining even illumination ColorChecker Video charts make your workflow faster, more consistent and more colour balanced. They allow everyone on your team – from producer to cinematographer to editor to colourist – to work with consistent colour information. They save you time, from pre-production through production, and help you get to your creative look faster. Achieving the proper colour balance and exposure for video can be challenging. F-stops in cameras don’t always match. Ambient lighting conditions change. Multiple cameras and lenses have different looks, even if they are the same brand and model. All of this adds up to quality control challenges and increased workload in post-production for your colourist or editor. Here’s what ColorChecker Video offers: Video Colour Target Speed up your colour grading workflow by achieving ideal exposure and colour balance, whether shooting with one camera or multiples. The colour chart includes a series of chromatic colour chips, skin tone chips, gray chips and illumination check chips. The layout is designed for ideal performance when used with vectorscopes and waveforms, whether on camera or in software. Chromatic Colours: two rows of six chromatic colour chips, both saturated and desaturated, specifically designed to align with the colour axis on a vectorscope. These colours provide two levels of colour information to more quickly achieve an ideal colour balance. Skin Tones: ranging from light to dark with subtle undertones to better reproduce accurate flesh tones. This row of chips is positioned on the outer edge of the target for easy alignment. Large Gray Levels: four larger steps for even gray balance, including white, 40IRE gray, deep gray and high gloss black. These levels are ideal for determining proper exposure whether you use a waveform, zebras, or false colours. Use these levels to align the exposure and contrast of cameras you are matching and ensure that mid-tones are rendered accurately. These chips are positioned in the centre of the test target for maximum exposure, even on a wide set. Linear Grayscale: six colour chips for achieving even gray balance. This row addresses highlight and shadow regions. Illumination Check Chips: black and white chips at two corners to better assist in determining even illumination across the target 3rd Party Software Support ColorChecker Video is supported by 3rd party software solutions for improved colour grading and efficiencies. Calibrite ColorChecker White Balance

Calibrite ColorChecker White Balance

The ColorChecker White Balance target is spectrally neutral to deliver accurate white reproduction for both photo and video workflows. Use it to perform custom in-camera white balance to guarantee precise, uniform, neutral white - under any lighting condition. Ideal for photographers and filmmakers. ColorChecker White Balance is a full-size version of the white balance target included in both ColorChecker Passport products. The actual colour of the target is a light gray which provides the best white balance result. You’ll be able to: Eliminate colour casts Improve the colour preview on your camera’s display so your histograms are more reliable Make post production colour editing faster and easier by eliminating the need to neutralize each image individually The ColorChecker White Balance target delivers accurate white reproduction. As lighting conditions change, your camera shifts the way it reproduces white; resulting in colour shifts in your photos or video footage. Most white balance targets aren’t neutral and could cause colours to shift under different lighting conditions. But the ColorChecker White Balance target is a scientifically engineered, absolute neutral white reference that prevents colour shifts and provides precise, uniform surface that is spectrally neutral – in any lighting condition. That means you can be confident the image or footage you capture is as close to real life as possible. ColorChecker White Balance also gives you a way to adjust your digital camera's colour sensitivity to exactly match the ambient lighting conditions; in effect, change what that the camera "sees." The perceived colour of white changes based on ambient conditions—outdoor it is perceived to be cooler, indoor it is perceived to be warmer, and under fluorescent light, greener. Even in a controlled studio environment, this can be a problem. Whether on location or in your studio, establishing an accurate custom white balance before each photo session or video shoot ensures accurate colours from the start. Setting a custom white balance for each lighting situation will make the previews on your camera’s built in display more colour correct, make your histograms more reliable, and speed up post production colour editing. Raw shooters can capture anytime during the session to gain these benefits, while JPEG shooters should make it your first shot. Why can’t I use just any white object? White balancing on a piece of paper or other gray element in the scene may seem like a simple workaround, but most objects are not actually neutral under all lighting conditions; and they’re certainly not consistent. An inaccurate white balance will result in colour casts and a lack of consistency between lighting conditions.

The art of colour management is all about getting your colours to match from input to output. ColorChecker Passport Photo 2 is an essential component for your colour-managed workflow. It includes 4 targets giving you everything you need for exposure control, white balance, camera profiling and creative enhancements wherever your creativity leads you. Grey Balance Target 18% grey is the industry standard reference used to produce consistent image exposure and/or colour in film and photography. Use it with a reflective light meter or your in-camera meter to check lighting ratios and light distribution. Plus, it can be used to neutral balance and remove colour casts. • Set proper camera exposure • Check lighting ratios; important for portrait photography • Alternate choice for custom neutral balancing of your camera White Balance Target Starting with an accurate white balance ensures that the colours you capture are true and provides a point of reference for post-shoot editing. This target is created to exacting standards to be spectrally neutral and reflect light equally across the visible spectrum. This provides a neutral reference point to accurately compensate for different lighting conditions. • Eliminate colour casts • Improve the colour preview on camera display • Speed up post-production – eliminate the need to neutralise each image separately Note: Raw shooters can capture this target anytime during the session. JPEG shooters should make it their first shot. "Why can’t I use just any white object?" White balancing with a piece of paper or other grey element in the scene may seem like a simple workaround, but most objects are not actually neutral under all lighting conditions; and they’re certainly not consistent. An inaccurate white balance results in colour casts and a lack of consistency as lighting conditions change. This can slow down your post-processing as you attempt to fix the resulting colour casts. Classic Target Photographing the industry-standard ColorChecker Classic is an important step in attaining consistent, predictable colour at capture. When combined with the Camera Calibration Software, you can produce custom DNG and/or ICC profiles of your camera’s response to scene lighting for consistent, predictable and repeatable results from image to image and camera to camera. The Classic target also provides a visual point of colour reference so that you can see exactly how colour corrections will affect the rest of your colours before you apply them. Each of the 24 colour patches represents the colours of natural objects, such as sky blue, skin tones and leaf
