RISE OF THE REPUBLIC CONTENT: A full prequel campaign to Total War: ROME II set in the 4th Century BC All-new campaign map, detailing the landmass of Italy and its neighbouring states Nine playable factions: * Rome – a growing republic, vulnerable and surrounded by enemies * Tarchuna – the mighty and influential Etruscan state * Senones – a Cisalpine Gallic tribe with a thirst for plunder * Insubres – a Gallic tribe who are diplomatic and managerial in style * Samnites – an Italic state that threatened Rome in the 4th century BC * Taras – a Greek city-state founded by the Spartans * Syracuse – a Greek metropolis in Sicily, and the bastion against Carthage * Iolei – an indigenous Sardinian tribe * Veneti – an Italic tribe of horse masters surrounded by enemies An epic campaign battle for the city of Rome Post Battle Loot New Technologies Region specific dilemma systems – depending on the regions you control dilemmas related to Carthage or Massalia might spawn. Chapter objectives are also faction specific and are a way to unlock agents. The factions of Rise of the Republic are uniquely replayable due to the new Government Actions options, which replaces the Change Government system from prior ROME II campaigns. These options provide unique new bonuses, albeit at a cost. Some notable examples are: * Rome may appoint consuls or dictators in times of need * The Etruscans of Tarchuna can initiate the summit of Fanum Voltumnae, where decisions are made * The Samnites can rely on the ancient Ver Sacrum rite, to receive an instant army * The Insubres and Senones rely on druidic councils for divination and public support * Taras has access to court philosophers who greatly improve their research Along with these, different factions have access to specific dilemma chains such as: * Rome often is forced deal with domestic trouble that result in plebeians or patricians being happy or enraged. * Greek factions can influence the struggle of the Greek poleis back in Hellas. Rise of the Republic will be released alongside the Ancestral Update, which introduces the fan-favourite Family Tree to Total War: ROME II and all its various free and premium Campaign Packs. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla for PC is the 12th instalment of the Assassin’s Creed games, and this one takes place in the 9th century (beginning in 873AD) carrying you across Europe as you move your clan from a seriously overcrowded and war torn Norway to England, a green land of peace, prosperity and fertile fields in which to raise your crops. The UK might have a reputation as being a chilly and rainy place, but compared to near arctic desolation, it is not too bad a substiture! It is an open world action adventure game. WHAT TO DO? Siblings Eivor and Sigurd are the leaders of their intrepid band of Vikings and you play as Eivor, who can be male or female, as you choose. Do not worry about your gender, though, as you can change it on the fly, even in the heat of battle if you suddenly fancy a change. If combat is not your thing, there is still plenty to do in the game. Visit the stable to buy horses, pop into the fishing hut before hitting the streams and lakes, and keep your equipment up to date in the hunting hut. There is even an aviary where you can customise your ravens with such details as white flashes on their wings. As an added bonus, your fishing catch or hunting successes can be sold in exchange for various rewards or as in-game currency. Being a Viking, you will, of course, want to keep your access to the sea in good nick, and there is a shipyard where you can repair, maintain, build and replace your longboat. You will be busy at first, learning skills and crafting new items, even as you plant and raise crops, and enjoy occasional battles as raiders try and take what you have got. Establishing a bakery, cattle farm and brewery ensures that you and your clan are all well-fed, while Gunnar, the blacksmith, forges you some quite amazing weapons! The map-maker, or cartographer, is well worth keeping sweet as they can offer you special maps, from time to time, which can point you in profitable raiding directions – well worth the investment of a little friendship and a few gold coins. When you do decide to go on a raid, you can hand-pick your warriors from a handful of presets – all of whom can be customised slightly into a cohesive team. But it is not all battling – you can attend weddings of tribesmen, get far too drink and end up with a terrible and well-deserved hangover after rap battles that your character will be very happy to consign to the dustbin of their memory! DOESN’T SOUND VERY ASSASSIN-ORIENTED? Alongside mere living and survival, there are subplots in which the eternal battle between the Hidden Ones and the Order of Ancients imposes upon you the need to choose a side, usually the former. In between harvests, fishing, hunting and battling, you will find time to slip away, alone, with a companion or even with your entire band, to try and assassinate judiciously, aiming to restore the advantage to the Hidden Ones. The Saga domain is ruled by Nabeshima Mochizuru, the latest in a line of daimyo who were given this territory after the Tokugawa won the vicious civil war of the Sengoku Jidai. The Saga did well by being sensible enough to join the Tokugawa cause while there was still some doubt over the result. They did not wait until the Battle of Sekigahara to decide where their true loyalties lay. The domain includes the port of Nagasaki, a valuable resource for any daimyo. It is here that Japan has its only official trade with the West, and it is here that interesting ideas arrive in the country. Perhaps this knowledge of the harshness of the outside world is what has convinced the Saga to throw their weight behind the Imperial Court rather than the Shogun. The Saga clan can rely on a few advantages in the coming struggle: they have Western connections and trade that is far ahead of any other domain. In turn, this learning allows them to be artillery experts, and have good shipbuilding and industrial facilities. The modern world has much to offer to those who would embrace it. Interestingly, the historical Nabeshima Mochizuru eventually resigned his position and left Japan to study in England. ABOUT THE OBAMA FACTION PACK The Overseers With long experience of government and administration, the authoritarian people of Obama are unsurpassed in controlling people and trade. The Sakai clan, the rulers of Obama, are firm supporters of the Shogunate. The original Sakai lord of the domain, Sakai Tadakatsu, was one of the roju, or elders, under Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first Shogun. This was a hugely important post in the affairs of Japan, and Tadakatsu was correspondingly powerful within the Shogunate's administration. The Sakai clan could also claim to be related to the Minamoto clan, and to be cousins of both the Tokugawa and the Matsudaira clans. They are, then, very well connected. Their domain is worthy of them. The town of Obama had been a prosperous trading port, but its importance declined as Japan closed itself off from the outside world. It remained an important link to Ezo, modern Hokkaido. Because of their long experience of government and administration, they are experts at managing the population of their lands. They receive a taxation bonus and are highly efficient at repression. They also spend money wisely, and they pay less upkeep for land units. All their garrison troops are also of high quality. ABOUT THE TSU FACTION PACK The Betrayers Rising from humble roots, the people of Tsu are wise, artful and astute strategists. Their use of Ninja is unsurpassed on the battlefield and in covert operations. The Todo clan, rulers of the Tsu domain, cannot claim a proud samurai lineage like many of the other great clans of Japan. Their beginnings are actually rather humble: Todo Takatora was an ashigaru, a peasant footsoldier, during the great wars of the Sengoku Jidai. So what? So too was the mighty general Toyotomi Hideyoshi, revered as one of the three great unifiers of Japan! IN RETRIBUTION FOR AELLE’S EXECUTION OF THEIR FATHER, THE SONS OF RAGNAR MADE AN EXAMPLE OF HIM WITH THE HORRIFYING BLOOD EAGLE RITUAL. IT WAS A MAJOR SITE OF VIKING OCCUPATION, AND WAS RULED UNTIL 873 BY THE VIKING LORD IMAR, OFTEN ASSOCIATED WITH IVAR THE BONELESS, A SON OF THE LEGENDARY VIKING WARLORD RAGNAR LOTHBROK.
