Splasher is an original platformer developed by the independent Splashteam team. The studio was founded by Romain Claude, a former Ubisoft designer who worked on Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends.
Story
Splasher takes us to the headquarters of the Inkorp corporation. Its employees (called Splashers) devoted themselves to their daily duties - the routine was dramatically broken by the company's manager, the sinister Docteur, who intends to bring annihilation to his subordinates. The main character of the game is a man he hires, who tries to thwart his plans and save his colleagues. The protagonist has only an unusual weapon at his disposal - the so-called Splatter Cannon - which guarantees him a significant advantage over his opponents.
Gameplay
In Splasher the action is presented in a side perspective . The core of the game is the exploration of large locations, avoiding the ubiquitous traps and fighting the enemies you encounter. In carrying out each of these activities, it turns out to be indispensable to use a weapon capable of shooting colored ink. Thanks to it, the hero can stick to objects treated with blue dye, climbing them like ladders, bounce off the surroundings colored orange, and attack adversaries with the use of red substance. Our way is faced by various opponents, including overgrown bossesand an additional threat are various defenses, including rotary saws, acid geysers and automatic cannons. Due to the fact that the gameplay is extremely dynamic, the hero says goodbye to life relatively often. Its concept, however, is the result of consultations that the developers had with professional speedrunners, so the key to success here is drawing conclusions from the mistakes made and the ability to make quick decisions ; The right reflex is also important. Our actions are monitored on an ongoing basis by a scoring system, and we can publish our achievements on online record boards.
