Unbox is an original, physics-based 3D platformer in which we play the role of self-delivering cardboard boxes . The concept of the game was created during the EU4 Game Jam competition, where the creators' task was to prepare a game based on the Unreal Engine 4 engine. on the PS4, PC and XONE platform, the final production is carried out by the independent British studio Prospect Games, whose members have collaborated on such productions as GRID 2 , DiRT Rally and LEGO Jurassic World . The developer from Manchester has prioritized creativity and experimenting with various technologies, such as advanced physics engines and Oculus Rift augmented reality sets.
Story
The game puts us in the role of testers of a new, revolutionary technology, self-delivering packages. However, before the solution can hit the market and change the face of traditional postal services forever, it must be thoroughly tested. This is where the role of players begins, who, playing the role of cardboard boxes, must test their potential motor skills.
Gameplay
Unbox draws inspiration from many classic productions that its creators played in their youth, such as GoldenEye , Super Mario 64 , Super Mario Kart or Marble Blast. In the game, we deal with the mechanics of a typical three-dimensional platformer supplemented with elements of several other genres, such as puzzle games, action games, races, and even fighting games. The basis of the game, however, is the use of the physical properties of a cardboard box, which in the game by Prospect Games studio can not only roll and jump, but also use several types of weapons (such as flares, fireworks, mines, traps or black holes). To better identify with our cardboard "hero", the creators also foreseen the possibility of unlocking various skins and accessories with which we can put our protagonist, giving him a unique and unique character.
