Medieval Music For Mandolin Bk 2 Bk/Cd

Medieval Music For Mandolin Bk 2 Bk/Cd

Medieval Mandolin Voume 2 by Allan Alexander. These medieval pieces sound great on the mandolin. They also lay right under the fingers. There is both notation and TAB and no page turns for any of the pieces in this book. The reason? This book is made for musicians, by musicians. You can get the book with a CD and the guitar and mandolin are separate tracks. You can turn the mandolin totally off and play with the cd. There is no "Tick Tick" before the pieces, instead there are two measures of intro with the guitar, so you can sit and listen to the CD and become familiar with the pieces without it sounding like a learning CD. There are chords with the music and at the end of the book, there are examples of what the guitar is doing for many of the tunes in both tablature and notation. These tunes sound terrific, and are a great addition to any repertoire. You can use them for any kind of gig, or you can try doing some medieval fairs, medieval feasts or medieval weddings. The bowl back mandolin looks so much like the lute, most people would never know the difference. Often when I play the lute, they ask me if it's a mandolin. I play lute, guitar and more recently mandolin. I know the music. These pieces are particulary suited for the sound of the mandolin. I love playing them. The book is beautiful and scored professionally. The paper is heavy stock. The titles may not make a lot of sense, but these are great pieces. Many have variations to make them longer.

Andrew D. Gordon: The Bluesier Side Of Jazz - Flute

The Bluesier Side of Jazz by Andrew D. Gordon was inspired by the Piano students he teaches at Shepherd University School of Music in Los Angeles and is dedicated to those students: Jungwon, Yumiko, Yoko, Eunice, Sooji, Hae Ji and Ok Kyu. As with many students that come from a classical background (including himself) it is a difficult transition to learn to play Blues & Jazz. When a musician improvises they usually play a variety of riffs or phrases that they have developed and learnt over a period of time and can access these phrases instantaneously whatever key they are playing in to create a seamless improvised solo from the phrases they have learnt.Andrew's idea for this book is to create phrases or riffs over two measures of various Blues progressions. He sub-divided each of the 12 Bar Blues progressions used in this book (the chord progression for Watermelon Man is a 16 measure progression) into six sections (two measures each) and within each of the six sections created four different phrases or riffs so that the student has a choice of four different phrases to play over every two measures. They can then create a solo based on which phrase they choose for each two measures. By breaking down these phrases to two measures each, he has found that the students have an easier time of learning to improvise than by trying to transcribe a whole solo from an audio recording or leaving them to their own devices in trying to play a solo based on the Blues scale or other related scales. Each of the ten examples are based on common Jazz/Blues chord progressions from Jazz songs such as "Watermelon Man", "Blue Monk", "Tenor Madness", "Route 66", "Blue Trane", "Bag's Groove" starting off with basic I-IV-V chords and increasing in complexity throughout the book. There are over 200 phrases/riffs to choose from that can be learned and applied to many types of jazz songs.

Andrew D. Gordon: 100 Ultimate Soul, Funk And R&B Grooves (Book/Online Audio)

Outta Sight Funk And R&B Riffs For Bass

Gabriel Rosati: The Latin Brass Soloist

Ult Contemp Rhythm Kbd Grooves Bk/Cd

Ult Contemp Rhythm Kbd Grooves Bk/Cd

Ultimate Contemporary Rhythm Keyboard Grooves by Andrew D. Gordon will give you an insight into how keyboardists play rhythm Keyboard grooves in many different styles of contemporary music such as: Pop, Rock, Blues, Jazz, Funk, R&B, Latin, Gospel, New Age, Reggae, Calypso. Each of the 21 grooves is broken down into patterns ranging from 3 up to 16 with over 150 patterns in total. Each groove uses a chord progression that is commonly used for that style of music and generally starts off with a simplified pattern and as you progress through the groove, the patterns become more complex both rhythmically and harmonically. The CD that accompanies this book contains all the patterns that are notated in the book. Each pattern is recorded twice, 1st. with the Keyboard rhythm part playing along with a rhythm section of Organ, Guitar, Bass and Drums and in certain grooves percussion, 2nd. the rhythm section without the piano rhythm part, so you can practice along. Also, there are extended 2-3 minute play-a-long mp3 files of all 21 grooves contained on the CD that can be accessed from a computer enabling you to practice each groove and pattern for an extended period of time. The play-a-long mp3 files gives you the ability to either practice the rhythm patterns notated in the book in whatever order you prefer as well as the possibility of creating your own rhythm patterns. MIDI files are also included on the CD. This book is being used by Andrew to teach Keyboard students in his "Keyboard Groove Lab" at Cornel School of Contemporary Music in Los Angeles.

Andrew D. Gordon: 100 Ultimate Blues Riffs For Alto Saxophone (Beginner Series)

Andrew D. Gordon: 100 Ultimate Blues Riffs For Alto Saxophone (Beginner Series)

100 Ultimate Blues Riffs for Eb Alto Saxophone, the Beginner Series by musician, educator and world renowned author Andrew D. Gordon is an exhaustive guide to introduce beginner students to the various phrases or ?riffs? that make up Blues sax playing, both from a rhythmic and soloing standpoint. Due to the continued success of his more advanced book 100 Ultimate Blues Riffs for Eb Alto Andrew decided to author a similar type of book for beginner students. This book is ideal for the beginner to intermediate music student with most of the examples notated in the easier keys. Besides learning how to play Blues riffs the book is a useful tool for sight reading exercises with many different rhythms. The 12 bar Blues progression and the Blues scale, in Andrew?s opinion, the two most important aspects of playing the Blues is explained in detail as well as ?straight? and ?swing? rhythms. There are five sections to the riffs in the book, section 1 contains basic Blues riffs, section 2 contains Rhythm & Blues influenced riffs, section 3 contains Blues/Boogie Woogie riffs, section 4 contains Rock influenced Blues riffs and section 5 contains Gospel influenced Blues riffs. Included with this book is an audio CD that contains all the riffs, recorded twice: first, sax melody, piano, guitar, bass and drums and second just the rhythm track of piano, guitar bass & drums so you can play-a-long."Whether reading the 100 riffs or picking them up by ear, the book can have many uses. It is good for sightreading in the style, short improvisational work or developing the ear.The clean, well-laid out books should offer a springboard into further study of the blues and improvisation." - saxshed.com
