Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm is the debut of the extremely popular anime character on the PlayStation 3 console, after almost nine years it has also been made available to PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users. CyberConnect2, a developer who has many Naruto titles in the lead role, is responsible for developing the game.
Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm is a brawl, and its core are one-on-one duels. The player has 25 heroes and a number of extensive arenas at his disposal. The creators of the program approached its implementation with many unusual ideas, thanks to which it is especially original. Before starting the duel, we have the option to choose three warriors: the leader and two supporters. The role of the leader is played by the player himself, having full control over him. Support characters (two additional ninja) remain under the command of the computer, and the player can only summon them.
At first glance, the appearance of the skirmishes does not resemble ordinary fights, due to the changed mechanics. While in the case of typical representatives of the genre, two fighters face each other, standing on one line, in Ultimate Ninja Storm the fighters run all over the arena. The camera, moving dynamically, always shows both fighters, so when playing in cooperation, we will not see a split screen.
Each of the available heroes has a different style and its own range of special attacks. By starting the ultimate jutsu, a short mini-game cut-scene will appear on the screen. If, during the animation, the attacked player wins an arcade duel, by quickly pressing the indicated buttons, he will avoid taking damage. When writing about special attacks, it is worth mentioning the so-called awakening, i.e. the possibility of transforming the hero. This option appears when the hero has the last health bar. Thanks to it, we get a reinforcement or, in the case of some heroes, a complete transformation with new combos and ultimate jutsu animations.
In addition to battles, the game also features a story mode, i.e. the ability to complete nearly 100 missions and learn the stories from the first 126 episodes of the TV prototype. This is an amazing treat not only for fans of the series, but also for those who want to fight epic battles with giant bosses. While participating in the shared story, we will get the opportunity to explore the fully three-dimensional village of Naruto. Graphics, thanks to the possibilities of modern platforms, allowed to reproduce Japanese anime on a scale close to 1: 1. Both the characters and the surroundings are characterized by extraordinary diligence, thanks to which we will experience similar emotions while playing that accompany the viewers of the TV series.
