Conversations With My Dog - Hannah Gold - Bog - Brown Dog Books - Plusbog.dk

Conversations With My Dog - Hannah Gold - Bog - Brown Dog Books - Plusbog.dk

Conversations with My Dog by Hannah Gold is a tale for those who love to seek new adventures and the promise of following their dreams, or nose, into the unknown. In a fast-paced world, driven by material achievement and the fear of loss; clarity can seem hard to find. Sometimes answers can come from the most surprising sources. When the author found herself confronted with challenges, she discovered, to her surprise, that wisdom came not from a philosophical master or spiritual guide, but her puppy named Monty. On the road with him, she learns to stop and ask him questions. He answers her through demonstrating the values of simplicity, fun and love of exploration. This description of the conversations that developed between them is a tale about rediscovering direction in life. It gives a light-hearted, gently thought-provoking account of the bigger journey of working out how to live. The search for the way ahead is the metaphor that illustrates the eternal bond of loyalty between a dog and its humanand makes this tale transcend normal conversation. 'Even when we are in small bodies, we have big spirits.' Writes Hannah Gold, relaying the replies of her wise four-legged friend, to her questions about life. 'The very young always know why they are here. Because they haven't forgotten. Sometimes life muddles things up with too many thoughts. But the heart is ageless.'Hannah's illustrations were created from sketches she made of Monty on their travels. These drawings provide a visual tapestry, depicting their journey together to inspire readers in finding their own path. Conversations with My Dog is an ideal companion for people considering significant change or embarking on a new direction, however uncertain, or even just searching for a little extra companionship and inspiration.

Heart Attack - Jeff Schmidt - Bog - Brown Dog Books - Plusbog.dk

“This book is soul food! So encouraging!” (P. Henderson) HEART ATTACK is a fresh and original perspective on trauma, recovery and renewal. It is a must-have beacon of light for anyone going through adversity or significant life change. “Jeff writes the way he speaks; the way he lives; the way he inspires. He is less a man defined by what he does or says, as much as a man who lives out fiercely, faithfully and fearlessly the process of “becoming”. And in this book, it is this invitation that he extends to you, the reader.” (Dr. E. Chew) In his mid-40s, Jeff Schmidt unexpectedly found himself in hospital. In an instant, or rather a series of strained, chest crushing, arm aching, jaw clenching heart attacks, he was thrust from the life he knew as a healthy, tenacious professional and plunged into a strange new world. The journey was profound. Along the way there were many bleeps, groans, characters and emotions, but, most significantly, there was change. In this book, Jeff shares candid observations throughout the transformational journey which took him from losing sight of life as he knew it, to gaining new perspectives of life’s beauty and meaning. It was a journey that would ignite motivation, passion, and productivity. At his side, a ubiquitous 0.1mm pen and a trusty watercolour tin, which allowed him to candidly document the recovery in his vibrant signature style- the joy, the unexpected, the pain, and the revelation. For anyone wondering if there is hope beyond trauma. For anyone thirsting for an insightful perspective on recovery. For anyone yearning to renew their sense of passion for life. “Jeff reminds us of the fragility and unique value of our lives, which we so often take for granted, and encourages us to ‘live inspired’.” (M. Wood)

A Theory Of Everything - Dr Jonathan R. Tuck - Bog - Brown Dog Books - Plusbog.dk

At the age of 8, the author experienced a life-changing accident that saw him lie in a coma for two weeks, after which he was left paralysed and unable to speak. The doctors gave him a 30% chance of survival, and said that even if he did live, it was likely that he’d spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair, and with limited cognitive abilities. From that day on he had a burning desire and a deep intuition that he would prove them all wrong. Fuelled with this newly acquired insight into life, and with tremendous determination, he incrementally built upon the positive influence of this otherwise profound adversity. His passion and mission is to share this knowledge and experience with others who are ready to take the next steps towards a more triumphant life. This book is the story of a man who used his unique outlook on life as the foundations to defy all odds. It explains how he stepped out of the wheelchair. It describes the techniques that he developed to heal his emotional traumas, including his anger and frustrations. It explains how he circumnavigated his disenchantment. Alongside other significant achievements, he went on to complete his scientific doctorate at the University of Oxford, and having subsequently discovered many secrets to health and wellbeing, he’s transformed himself in ways unimaginable by conventional medical care. He’s now living a very fruitful, joyful and contented life. This book is written for his children from a scientific perspective, and in a way that’s understandable for everyone. It assimilates conventional self-help and personal development topics like meditation, the power of the subconscious mind, manifestation and raising your vibrational frequency, nutrition, relationships, health, and alternative medicine and well-being. Those Flat Share Girls (Oh, How They Laughed) - Stuart Duncan - Bog - Brown Dog Books - Plusbog.dk

Those Flat Share Girls (Oh, How They Laughed) - Stuart Duncan - Bog - Brown Dog Books - Plusbog.dk

Those Flat Share Girls is a collection of light verse, written in easy to read rhyming couplets, containing an old man's recollections of his young life in London in the 1960s. It begins in January 1960, when he bids his school goodbye with the thought that:I knew I'd never use again A logarithm or a sine But the trappings of a cultured mind I knew exactly where to find. And, not long after this, while strolling to a local coffee bar, he and a friend sense that: There was a fire about to burnAnd of that flame we had both caught a spark. That warm summer's evening in Grovelands Park. And so, life moves forward through the years with the usual parties and musical delights of the superb jazz bands to be found performing in the back rooms of pubs for twopence ha'penny and the emerging electric bands who would sell black rhythm and blues back to the USA. Unfortunately, he misses most of this scene's excitement because: Far from the fuss and ballyhoo I was on my way to KathmanduOn what became known as the Hippie Trail. Then onwards to a couple of years in Australia as a roustabout 'swagman'. A few further adventures follow, an attempt to walk the Pennine Way amongst them; and there are several unconsummated romances along the way until he eventually finds himself 'complete' in the comforting arms of a loving wife. And finally, back in a local park, an old man minding a friend's dog. He sits observing the changed world of 2022, sixty odd years after he sensed a fire about to burn and ponders contentedly: There really is no better place To see first-hand the changing face Of our noble, ancient 'Island Race' Than in a local park on a Sunday morn ...
