Conversations With My Dog - Hannah Gold - Bog - Brown Dog Books - Plusbog.dk

Conversations With My Dog - Hannah Gold - Bog - Brown Dog Books - Plusbog.dk

Conversations with My Dog by Hannah Gold is a tale for those who love to seek new adventures and the promise of following their dreams, or nose, into the unknown. In a fast-paced world, driven by material achievement and the fear of loss; clarity can seem hard to find. Sometimes answers can come from the most surprising sources. When the author found herself confronted with challenges, she discovered, to her surprise, that wisdom came not from a philosophical master or spiritual guide, but her puppy named Monty. On the road with him, she learns to stop and ask him questions. He answers her through demonstrating the values of simplicity, fun and love of exploration. This description of the conversations that developed between them is a tale about rediscovering direction in life. It gives a light-hearted, gently thought-provoking account of the bigger journey of working out how to live. The search for the way ahead is the metaphor that illustrates the eternal bond of loyalty between a dog and its humanand makes this tale transcend normal conversation. 'Even when we are in small bodies, we have big spirits.' Writes Hannah Gold, relaying the replies of her wise four-legged friend, to her questions about life. 'The very young always know why they are here. Because they haven't forgotten. Sometimes life muddles things up with too many thoughts. But the heart is ageless.'Hannah's illustrations were created from sketches she made of Monty on their travels. These drawings provide a visual tapestry, depicting their journey together to inspire readers in finding their own path. Conversations with My Dog is an ideal companion for people considering significant change or embarking on a new direction, however uncertain, or even just searching for a little extra companionship and inspiration.

THE INVISIBLE PARENT - Anonymous - Bog - Brown Dog Books - Plusbog.dk

What happens when the very same system designed to protect children fails? That's exactly what is happening right now in the UK family courts in cases of Parental Alienation, a form of post-divorce abuse. Cafcass define Parental Alienation as 'when a child's resistance or hostility towards one parent is not justified and is the result of psychological manipulation by the other parent'; yet experts, therapists and social workers are not trained to assess or deal with cases involving Parental Alienation. I spent years making my case to judges, experts and lawyers, all of whom failed to agree on what was actually happening between my ex-wife, my kids and myself. At the time it seemed like I was constantly trying to prove a negative, to find a new direction to reach my kids, and while all were promising, all ended in expensive dead ends as my ex-wife pursued her agenda. If I had to sum up the experience of trying to prove Parental Alienation in the courts, I would describe it as being trapped in the backseat of a car while it crashes in slow motion. The system is not fit for purpose. The family courts are slow and busy, burdened by the backlog of cases. Once you do get a hearing, they are often set months away and even then, traditional safeguarding assessments fail to detect Parental Alienation. The longer the child is away from a parent, the harder it is to stop the alienation, and the longer the issue remains unaddressed, the risk of the children suffering mental health and behavioural problems increases. Alienated parents also often display signs of post-traumatic stress: paranoia, anxiety and in some cases are suicidal. It is my hope that this book will not only draw attention to the potential injustice in cases of Parental Alienation and the need for meaningful reform to prevent further irreparable damage, but that it will help a parent going through a family separation spot signs before it's too late. About the author: The author is a successful businessman, loving father and victim of parental alienation. The author has used a ghost writer to validate his story. The characters have been anonymised to both protect their privacy and lift the veil on the inner workings of the family court, which the author believes is in the public interest of protecting children from harm.

Those Flat Share Girls (Oh, How They Laughed) - Stuart Duncan - Bog - Brown Dog Books - Plusbog.dk

Those Flat Share Girls is a collection of light verse, written in easy to read rhyming couplets, containing an old man's recollections of his young life in London in the 1960s. It begins in January 1960, when he bids his school goodbye with the thought that:I knew I'd never use again A logarithm or a sine But the trappings of a cultured mind I knew exactly where to find. And, not long after this, while strolling to a local coffee bar, he and a friend sense that: There was a fire about to burnAnd of that flame we had both caught a spark. That warm summer's evening in Grovelands Park. And so, life moves forward through the years with the usual parties and musical delights of the superb jazz bands to be found performing in the back rooms of pubs for twopence ha'penny and the emerging electric bands who would sell black rhythm and blues back to the USA. Unfortunately, he misses most of this scene's excitement because: Far from the fuss and ballyhoo I was on my way to KathmanduOn what became known as the Hippie Trail. Then onwards to a couple of years in Australia as a roustabout 'swagman'. A few further adventures follow, an attempt to walk the Pennine Way amongst them; and there are several unconsummated romances along the way until he eventually finds himself 'complete' in the comforting arms of a loving wife. And finally, back in a local park, an old man minding a friend's dog. He sits observing the changed world of 2022, sixty odd years after he sensed a fire about to burn and ponders contentedly: There really is no better place To see first-hand the changing face Of our noble, ancient 'Island Race' Than in a local park on a Sunday morn ...

Into The Whispering Wild - Hannah Dawn Gold - Bog - Brown Dog Books - Plusbog.dk

Sometimes when things should be straightforward, they're just not. When Hannah sets out to move house, the process falls apart repeatedly, facing her with a stark question what does she really want? The prospect of homelessness is a looming reality that brings a lifetime's worth of fears to the fore. Yet behind it all, is the constant, subtle sense of an indefinable 'something' important, lost but almost within reach. The wild world is whispering and asking What if there's a better way? Her conversation with the wild begins. With a young puppy and an inexplicable sense of hope and opportunity, she returns eventually to the one place to which she has always felt connected, the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall. Maybe the place will bring her home. The death of her mother adds further turmoil and grief. Seeking refuge in a caravan with her dog, she turns to the wild for clarity. There on the Lizard, on the South-West coast, in the magical landscape that called to her and spoke of home, she rediscovers the power of the wild and our ancient relationship with it. Hannah embarks upon an unexpected journey of reclaiming the inner self she had almost forgotten. Amid winter storms and soft sea mists, through every nuance of the seasons, she immerses herself in the wild and it shows the way back to an ancestral awareness of the inner nomad and settler within us all. Into the Whispering Wild is a true story, a raw but hopeful account of how our relationship with the wild is vital to our inner strength and ability to navigate life’s changes. Powerful yet gentle, this honest account of one woman’s journey into the meaning of home is a life-affirming tale of love, hope and determination. It urges us to rejoice in the healing power of our vital bond with the wild world.
