Wargame: European Escalation is another RTS from Eugen Systems studio, which became famous earlier thanks to the very successful R.U.S.E .. This time the creators decided to give up World War II and moved the plot of their new product to a bit more modern times.
The Wargame: European Escalation campaign begins in 1975, when the Cold War led to the outbreak of a global conflict between NATO and Warsaw Pact forces. The stake in this clash is, of course, world domination. Leading our divisions in four campaigns until 1985, we observe hypothetical scenarios that, according to the authors, really could have happened. They allow you to play the role of commander of American, French or Soviet troops, among other things. In the latter case, we are faced with the task of suppressing Polish rebels.
The way of gameplay in Wargame resembles that known from previous productions of Eugen Systems. Therefore, we take part in dozens of large-scale battles. Thanks to the proprietary IRISZOOM system, we can observe the course of the fights from almost any perspective.
The control of hundreds of units located on the map is facilitated by a bird's eye view, but at any time we can smoothly zoom the camera and observe the events from the very center of the battle.
Each party involved in the conflict has a separate set of unique and detailed units, which have been prepared in total 361. The fate of the entire war depends on the skillful application of the unique features of each of them. The game focuses on land battles (the player has at his disposal, among others, various types of infantry, tanks, armored personnel carriers, artillery and reconnaissance vehicles), with helicopters playing an important role.
One of the distinguishing features of Wargame: European Escalation is a very good visual setting. Fully three-dimensional graphics allow you to freely observe the events taking place. Dozens of units taking part in the battle and dynamic gameplay add to the drama.
