Technical Notes on Next Generation Aero Combustor Design-Development and Related Combustion Research - Jushan Chin - Bog - Nova Science Publishers Inc

The aim of this book is to identify that extra high-pressure ratio (such as about 70) civil aero engine low emissions combustors and extra high fuel air ratio (FAR) (such as FAR0.051) military aero engine combustors make up the next generation of aero combustors. The aero thermal design of these combustors is very different from previous combustors and the major design points are proposed. Two types of high-pressure low emissions combustor design have been suggested: one is without fuel staging and the other is with fuel staging. The high FAR combustor design is brand new. The layout of the next-generation aero combustor is very different. There are no primary holes, no intermediate holes, and no dilution holes. They all have direct mixing combustion. For low-emissions combustors, it is lean direct mixing (LDM) combustion. For high-FAR combustors, it is stoichiometric direct mixing combustion. Combustion air fraction is very high (such as 75%). That will induce idle condition lean blow out (LBO) issue. The present book has proposed several design approaches to solve idle LBO issue, which are effective. Pilot fuel air combustion is designed at idle condition. For civil combustor, maximum condition is designed for low emissions, while for high FAR combustor, maximum condition is designed for non-visible smoke, low luminous flame radiation and good combustion efficiency. For each type of combustor, the fuel air module configuration is designed, which is the most essential part of combustor design. The brand-new combustor cooling design has used a compound angle tangential inlet cooling hole configuration. Such a cooling design provides high cooling effectiveness. The diffuser configuration is totally new. It is an air bleeding diffuser, directly stretching forward to contact the dome. The bled air flows to the annular channel as cooling air. Aero combustor development is discussed in this book. In particular, the combustor developments from technology readiness level (TRL) 3 to TRL level 6 have been discussed in detail. Also reported is the technology to run combustor development tests correctly. Three topics of related combustion research by the present author are summarised in the brochure. They are: a. Fuel injection and co-flowing air combination. The key point is, for next generation combustor development, the designer should not only think about atomization. The combination of fuel injection and co-flowing air should be considered together as a whole device. b. Fuel spray evaporation calculation, the key is an engineering calculation of multi-component fuel evaporation shall be used. c. Non-luminous flame radiation calculation, which has been significantly updated. The present book is a summary of the author's ten years of study on next-generation aero combustors after retirement. It represents advanced aero combustor technology level.

Macroscopic Quantum Phenomena in Spintronics - Herbert P. Simanjuntak - Bog - Nova Science Publishers Inc - Plusbog.dk

Macroscopic Quantum Phenomena in Spintronics - Herbert P. Simanjuntak - Bog - Nova Science Publishers Inc - Plusbog.dk

Although the discussion is general, this book focuses on the problem of macroscopic quantum phenomena using systems of spintronics. The spintronics considered are ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic spintronics. To represent the macroscopic quantum phenomena in spintronics, transitions from one state to another of the magnetization of ferromagnetic spintronics are considered, and of the NA (c)el vector of antiferromagnetic spintronics. The authors have studied transitions from a metastable state to a more stable one, as well as quantum coherence between two degenerate stable states. Quantum and classical rates of transitions are presented as functions of temperature, magnetic field and the spin-polarized current flowing through the spintronics. With this method, one can immediately observe the effect of the spin-polarized current on the transitions of the magnetization and the NA (c)el vector when comparing the results to those of the earlier ones on magnetic systems that did not have spin-polarized current. Specifically, while dissipations in magnetic system are intrinsic, the book shows how the total dissipation in spintronics can be controlled and eliminated by varying the spin-polarized current appropriately that depends on the temperature. The study of transitions from a metastable state to a more stable one in ferromagnetic spintronics shows that the rate of transitions of the magnetization at low temperatures is low and vanishes at zero temperature, so that the magnetization is relatively more stable than that in ferromagnetic materials without existence of spin-polarized currents. In the case of antiferromagnetic spintronics, the behavior and characteristics of transitions of the NA (c)el vector is in contrast to those of ferromagnetic spintronics, where the low-temperature rate of transitions in antiferromagnetic spintronics varies exponentially small in temperature, and is finite and non-vanishing at zero temperature. In addition to the theoretical aspects, the book also discusses experimental and technological aspects that one may obtain. Measurements of the rate of transitions can be used to provide an independent method to determine certain parameters being involved, such as the anisotropy parameter Kc of tetragonal crystals, which is an important parameter but usually difficult to obtain. Eliminating dissipation in ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic spintronics would be desired so as not to have unnecessary loss of energy. Low rate of transitions corresponds to the initial state that is relatively stable. Technologically, the stability of the states of the magnetization and NA (c)el vector in spintronics are important, for example, for memory storage.

An Introduction to Melamine - - Bog - Nova Science Publishers Inc - Plusbog.dk

An Introduction to Melamine - - Bog - Nova Science Publishers Inc - Plusbog.dk

In this compilation, technical and critical aspects concerning confirmatory methods for the analysis of melamine and its analogous, including cyanuric acid, ammeline, and ammelide in foodstuffs are discussed. Moreover, an overview of the concentrations of melamine and related compounds reported in the recent literature for different food items are summarized, as the results from monitoring these compounds in food products indicate their continuing presence in the food chain. Although high level of adulteration has ceased, melamine is still a popular material for pesticides, farm animal feed fillers, fire retardants, anti-wrinkles and mild abrasives. As such, the authors discuss how low-dose contamination of melamine to the environment cannot be ignored. Next, melamine-formaldehyde resin was chosen to form shell material due to its good thermo-mechanical and water-resistant properties. A series of experiments are conducted on changing the emulsifying system and a discussion of the results is provided. Additionally, a sensitive chemical sensor is developed to detect melamine selectively by an electrochemical approach, where ternary mixed metal oxide nanoparticles were prepared through the wet-chemical process. The calcined ZnO/CuO/Co3O4 NPs are investigated by field emission scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction, ultraviolet visible spectroscopy, and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. The authors evaluate the formation of melamine-derived particles in aqueous and biological matrices using different analytical techniques for studying the bioaccumulation of melamine-cyanurate in tissues, including kidney stones. Lastly, cadmium doped antimony oxide nanostructures are synthesized by a facile wet-chemical method at a low temperature to detect melamine from aqueous solutions. The calcined cadmium doped antimony oxide nanostructures are characterized systematically by FE-SEM, EDS, UV/Vis., FTIR spectroscopy, powder XRD and XPS techniques.

Nonwoven Fabric - - Bog - Nova Science Publishers Inc - Plusbog.dk

Nonwoven Fabric - - Bog - Nova Science Publishers Inc - Plusbog.dk

Nonwoven industry plays an important role in economy and society. Nonwoven Fabric: Manufacturing and Applications addresses important data on both natural and synthetic fibres that are used in the industry to develop products for different purposes. Though synthetic fibres are extensively used in the nonwoven industry for the manufacture of various products, natural fibres are steadily occupying the market due to some of their obvious merits. In this respect, a review of the various manufacturing techniques for nonwoven fabric derived from natural fibres such as cotton, jute, flax and hemp is given in this book. Next, the authors assess the structure, property, evaluation and applications of jute and jute blended needle-punched nonwoven fabric, in an effort to aid those who work with natural lingo-cellulosic fibre-based needle punched nonwovens. In addition, flax/low melting point polyester needle punched nonwoven fabrics were manufactured and characterized for thermal insulation applications. The test results show a decrease in thermal resistance value with an increase in low melt PET % and needle penetration depth. Six types of recycled nonwovens samples were developed using thermal bonding and aero dynamic methods, and these samples are characterized by their physical properties such as areal density, bulk density, thickness, porosity, air permeability and thermal resistance. The authors assess the way in which the increased use of fire retardant materials in industries has put considerable pressure on the scientific community to develop new polymer materials, chemicals, and fiber combinations for such applications. This compilation concludes with an overview of the history, common raw materials, manufacturing processes, properties, functions and applications of nonwoven geotextiles. The potential use of recycled nonwoven geotextiles towards a more sustainable construction is also discussed.
