Home: A Celebration - Charlotte Moss - Bog - Rizzoli International Publications - Plusbog.dk

Celebrated artists, designers, photographers, writers, actors, and activists offer personal reflections on the essence of home in this inspirational book to benefit No Kid Hungry. Filled with personal insight, humor, creativity, joy, and poignancy, Home: A Celebration is a lyrical ode to sanctuary and a thoughtful and inspirational book to peruse again and again. Through the lenses of their crafts and passions, each illustrious contributor presents an offering—either a personal text or work of art—on what home means to them. Historian Jon Meacham discusses books as the emotional infrastructure of the houses in his life. Photographer Oberto Gili documents the glorious garden at his property in northwest Italy. Chef Alice Waters proffers a recipe from her home garden. Interior designers—including Nina Campbell, Steven Gambrel, and Kelly Wearstler—share aspects of their profession that define home to them. Other notable pieces are from Joan Juliet Buck, Julian Fellowes, John Grisham, Jill Kargman, Joyce Carol Oates, and Gloria Steinem. Charlotte Moss’s inspiration for this project is Edith Wharton’s The Book of the Homeless (1916), a fundraising effort that aided refugees and children during the First World War. For this book, a portion of the profits are benefiting the organization No Kid Hungry, which works to feed more than 11 million children in the United States who live in food-insecure homes.

The debut book from award-winning Southern architect Stan Dixon, one of a highly influential group of Atlanta-based architects and designers who are revolutionizing the design world with their work. Stan Dixon’s edited approach to the classical elements of architecture creates an understated aesthetic that is historically based while embracing influences of modern design. Through contextually sensitive work of appropriate style, scale, and proportion, he crafts buildings of permanence and delight, while providing their occupants with a beautiful place in which to live their lives. Dixon takes risks in blending genres and styles, with results that are creative and original. In his first book, Dixon shares thirteen projects that vary geographically and stylistically—from a whimsical coastal retreat on Jupiter Island to an elegant English-manor-inspired dwelling on the coast of South Carolina. Each house explores a different component of his aesthetic, instructing the reader in the nature of authentic architecture while simultaneously delighting them with moments large and small—a shadow of garden gate, a striking stairwell, a tiered veranda.Photographed primarily by Eric Piasecki, featuring the work of Suzanne Kasler, Jackye Lanham, Carolyn Malone, Beth Webb, Tammy Connor, and other talented designers, HOME: The Residential Architecture of D. Stanley Dixon will resonate with and deeply engage readers in search of home.

The One Day Box: A Life-Changing Love of Home - Flora Soames - Bog - Rizzoli International Publications - Plusbog.dk

An intimate look at the ethos of one of today’s most exciting designers, and the people and places that have shaped her maximalist English country aesthetic. British interior designer Flora Soames founded her eponymous firm in 2009 and launched an acclaimed collection of fabrics and wallpapers in 2019. Informed by her background in art and furniture, her style exudes the traditional charm of English country homes while incorporating modern, original touches that are comfortable and design-led. This embrace of old and new—along with Soames’s passion for collecting, heritage, color, and pattern—has resulted in an impressive portfolio of projects in the UK and beyond.Inspired by the concept of a One Day Box—a place, real or imaginary, where we store fragments of our past that spark a feeling of connection—Soames presents her reflections on the concept of home, and explores the sentiments evoked by certain objects during seminal moments in her life. From personalities and places to beloved objects, Soames shows how our patchwork of memories can energize the process of creating and living in a home. Exquisite photographs of her projects—including her refurbished countryside cottage in Dorset, an architecturally prominent house in the Cotswolds, and her family’s home in North Norfolk—alongside images of vibrant fabrics and wallpaper bring her thoughts and distinctive style to life.

At Home with Dogs and Their Designers - Susanna Salk - Bog - Rizzoli International Publications - Plusbog.dk

At Home with Dogs and Their Designers - Susanna Salk - Bog - Rizzoli International Publications - Plusbog.dk

America''s leading interior designers show readers how to live in the most stylish way with their adorable dogs, offering an array of inspirational tips for keeping both your home and dogs attractive and chic The most elegant, stylish, and well-appointed house is nothing but a shell without its inhabitants, including the canine kind. Just ask the 22 A-List interior designers who grace the pages of At Home with Dogs and Their Designers who love nothing more than letting their best pals sleep in bed with them, cuddle on the couch, and essentially rule the roost. No room is off limits, no piece of furniture banned, clothing is optional, but their accessories are just as chic as their surroundings. Accidents may happen on vintage rugs, antiques are sometimes mistaken for chew toys, and more than one pair of ruined designer shoes have befallen them, but none would consider living without their loyal and loving best friends among the things they love. With individual chapters exploring each of the dogs'' amazing lives as they romp through the stunning interiors and gardens they call home with their humans, this book as much an inspirational design book, even if you don’t live with pets, as it is a resource, packed with clever tips from the interior designers themselves on ways to live with dogs. Teddy, Alex Papachristidis’ Yorkie, uses a miniature vintage chair to hop from the floor to the bed instead of doggie steps while Brooke Gianetti created a custom doggie gate made from antique wooden doors to keep Bebe, Sera, Frasier, and Sophie from getting into trouble while she is away from home. With 6 pups on the loose, Carolyne Roehm always orders extra yardage of fabric to make protective covers and quilts. Mary McDonald happily climbs on the oversized dog bed her 5 Pugs—Jack, Lulu, Boris, Eva, and Violet—share for daily “pug hugs” while Charlotte Moss’ Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Daisy and Buddy, lounge in a cabana out in the Hamptons on summer weekends. All of the featured pooches are interviewed, giving us insight into the luxury of their daily lives from their favorite places to sleep to their guilty pleasures. Complete with a resource guide for your decorative needs as well as pet needs (including adoption and rescue organizations), At Home with Dogs and Their Designers opens the door—from coast to coast, townhouse to beach house—allowing us to peek in and embrace this love letter from these designers to their pets, who are most assuredly family members. Our Way Home - Heidi Hendricks - Bog - Rizzoli International Publications - Plusbog.dk

The glorious Connecticut property of Heide Hendricks and Rafe Churchill (of the architecture and interior design firm Hendricks Churchill) illustrates how a late nineteenth-century farmhouse can be adapted for stylish and comfortable twenty-first-century living. Rafe and Heide discovered their true home in a late 1800s New England farmhouse after a decade of living in Brooklyn, New York. The historic property, Ellsworth, is a showplace for their shared aesthetic and sensibility of designing for real life, and not for formality. At the core is a house of pared-down traditionalism with references to Shaker tranquility, Arts & Crafts practicality, and bohemian chic. Whimsical wallcoverings, striking colors, a mix of contemporary furniture and antiques, exciting works of art, and comfort abound—turning a workaday house from the nineteenth century into a creative laboratory of the twenty-first.The house and its surroundings—a constant work in progress with evolving interiors, landscaping objectives, a reconfigured sunroom, a barn restoration, and planned hiking trails—have become an endless source of inspiration for the couple’s many projects, which include residences in New England, New York’s Hudson Valley, New York City, Oyster Bay, Boulder, and Austin. The narrative of the book addresses the couple’s design process in terms of architecture, decoration, and final installation. As many Americans are deciding to leave cities for calmer, more connected lives in the country, Heide and Rafe illustrate how this transition can be one of beauty and logic.

No Place Like Home - M. Stuart - Bog - Rizzoli International Publications - Plusbog.dk

The first book from renowned Hollywood-based interior designer Madeline Stuart, whose elegant decorating is predicated on timeless design, be it modernist or traditional in inspiration. Stuart is hailed as an icon in Los Angeles for her exceptional work. Architectural Digest wrote, "In a city driven by artifice and spectacle, Madeline Stuart celebrates understatement, authenticity, and elegance without affectation." The daughter of director Mel Stuart (Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory) and a decorator mother whose interiors were favored by actors and entertainers, Stuart grew up as a Hollywood insider. Today, her wide-ranging clientele comes from the entertainment industry as well as the world of business and finance. In No Place Like Home , Stuart herself writes eloquently about her recent work. With insight and wit, she walks the reader through her design process, from initial vision to execution. From her meticulous renovation of Cedric Gibbons''s Streamline Moderne house to a newly built Montana ranch to a Mediterranean-inspired residence on the California coast, each project is informed by Stuart''s keen understanding of history and craftsmanship as well as her skill with scale, proportion, and balance. These, along with her unexpected combinations of furniture and fine-art and decorative elements, result in richly layered interiors that feel authentic to their period and place, while remaining always relevant, modern, and beautiful.
