Tilia Cordata Rancho Small leaved Lime Rancho for Sale UK

Tilia Cordata Rancho or Small-Leaved Lime Rancho is a new cultivar of Tilia Cordata, a native deciduous tree which is well-suited to use across the UK. Introduced in the United States in 1961, it has a dense, conical crown which responds well to training and pruning into topiary shapes such as pleached or espaliered. Its small heart-shaped leaves, 5-12 cm long, are a glossy dark green on the top and a lighter green underneath. In early summer, clusters of fragrant creamy white flowers will perfume the air and attract bees and butterflies. They are followed by winged fruits, first green and then brown. The foliage creates a striking autumn show when the leaves turn yellow. Tilia Cordata Rancho distinguishes itself from other Small leaved Lime varieties in that its growth habit is dense and conical and it is a small to medium-sized tree.Height and Spread of Tilia Cordata RanchoSmall leaved Lime Rancho will grow to a mature height of 10-15 metres and spread of 6-9 metres in 20 to 50 years. How Hardy Is Tilia Cordata Rancho?Small leaved Lime Rancho is fully hardy throughout the UK and across northern Europe. How to Use Tilia Cordata Rancho Grown as a specimen tree, Small leaved Lime Rancho makes an excellent focal point in a lawn. Small-Leaved Lime Rancho is also a popular choice for pruning and training into topiary shapes such as block, pleached or espaliered. When restricted in shape and size through these methods, it is suitable for use as a screen in smaller gardens or terraces. It is good a specimen tree in a courtyard garden. It is drought-tolerant once established. Rhododendron Anna Rose Whitney for Sale Online UK

Rhododendron Anna Rose Whitney for Sale Online UK

Rhododendron Anna Rose Whitney is a large, evergreen hybrid rhododendron with glorious rose-pink flowers. It’s perfect for a large mixed border or a well-watered container.  Rhododendron Anna Rose Whitney was bred in Whitney, Washington USA in 1954. It’s proved a firm favourite in UK gardens for its vigorous evergreen leaves and pretty blooms. The fleshy textured evergreen foliage grows up to 11 centimetres long on strong woody stems that tend to grow outwards as well as up. In late spring and early summer large pink buds appear in clusters that bloom into funnel-shaped deep pink flowers with brown dappling beneath the petals. The blooms are large measuring up to ten centimetres in diameter. The flowers grow in ball-shaped trusses 10 to 20 flowers each. Flowers fade and fall before autumn, but its textured foliage remains all year. Height And Spread Of Rhododendron Anna Rose WhitneyThis hybrid is a tall variety that eventually reaches a bushy height of 4 metres eventually. This is a vigorous fast-growing shrub. It needs room to grow so choose its final spot carefully. How Hardy Is Rhododendron Anna Rose WhitneyRhododendrons are hardy shrubs and Anna Rose Whitney is no exception. It can survey harsh sub-zero winters if its roots are well-drained. It is fairly pest resistant and will survive droughts when established but may not flower without sufficient water. How To Use Rhododendron Anna Rose WhitneyThis rhododendron is a perfect evergreen specimen with real character. Its large showy blooms can’t be missed. It works well as part of a woodland garden or mixed border with its sister Rhododendron Van and will grow in a large well-watered container in a sheltered spot.  As it has no scent it’s a good choice for hayfever sufferers and its evergreen foliage brings shape and colour to a bare winter garden. How To Care For Rhododendron Anna Rose WhitneyRhododendron Anna Rose Whitney is a woodland plant that prefers partial shade and damp soil that’s humus-rich. It grows best in acidic soils and does not perform well in chalk. If you love this shrub but have chalky soils consider container gardening with ericaceous compost and frequent waterings. There is no need to prune Rhododendron Anna Rose Whitney other than removing any broken stems and dead flowers. If you wish to restrict its height, prune out crowded shoots in spring. Treated to a yearly application of rich leaf mould mulch on acid soil this rhododendron is a strikingly dramatic and fuss-free shrub.

Fagus Orientalis Iskander Oriental Beech Trees for Sale UK

Fagus Orientalis Iskander Oriental Beech Trees for Sale UK

Fagus Orientalis Iskander (Oriental Beech) is a large beech tree with wide green leaves. It’s more fastigiate than other beeches and although it’s deciduous its old leaves remain on the branches until new spring leaves dislodge them.Originating from Japan, Fagus Orientalis Iskander is better known as an oriental beech. It’s a tall tree differing from Common Beech because it naturally grows in an upright, columnar shape. This fastigiate nature makes it particularly suitable for medium-sized gardens in need of architectural height without spread. Its dark green leaves are larger than common beech. Foliage emerges in pale green in spring, darkens to deep green across the summer, and turns a beautiful coppery butter-yellow in autumn. Like hornbeam trees, its autumn-coloured foliage remains on its branches until new spring foliage unfurls.Height and Spread of Fagus Orientalis IskanderOriental beech reaches 20 metres tall, but its canopy spreads just six metres wide. How Hardy is Fagus Orientalis IskanderFagus Orientalis Iskander is hardy in the UK down to minus temperatures if its roots are well drained. It withstands drought once established and copes with pollution too.How To Use Fagus Orientalis IskanderOriental beech is a columnar, architectural shape that brings instant impact to gardens needing height without spread. Because it’s canopy only reaches six metre wide on a tall single grey trunk, it’s ideal for medium sized gardens.Use its year-round foliage to create shade, block out neighbours, or disguise an ugly feature. This tree brings winter interest and architectural merit to urban and country gardens. How To Care For Fagus Orientalis IskanderOriental beech is easy to grow and care for. Choose a sunny spot in well-drained fertile soil and it will flourish. As with all new trees, Fagus Orientalis Iskander needs lots of water to establish a strong root system. Use a whole can of water every day for the first few weeks and then at least twice a week thereafter until you see new growth. Give young trees plenty of water in hot spells and be sure to mulch the roots with well-rotted organic matter each year to trap moisture and provide nutrients for healthy growth. There’s no need to prune this beautiful tree because it naturally holds its upright fastigiate shape. You can remove any damaged or broken branches in the dormant winter months if necessary.

Abies Concolor White Pine Tree. American Conifer Firs Buy UK

Abies Concolor White Pine Tree. American Conifer Firs Buy UK

Abies Concolor - The White Pine or White FirA beautiful conifer tree, the Abies Concolor tree, often known as the White Fir Tree or Concolor Fir has silvery blue glaucous foliage and is native to the mountains of western North America. It gets its name White Fir from the white colour of its bark. It has a classic Christmas tree shape and indeed the Concolor Fir is often used as a Christmas tree in America.Abies Concolor will grow steadily into a pyramid shape reaching 25 metres in height over ten to twenty years but it can be happily pruned at any height you require. Colour and height are the main reasons a gardener will choose a White Fir Tree. The Abies Concolor’s needles are a silvery-blue glaucous shade complemented by the white bark from which it draws its name. These colours are an interesting twist on the standard green fir tree.Branches fall naturally into regular horizontal fan arrangements and six to 12 centimetre sized cones develop in autumn. At first these are yellow or a light purple shade, later ripening into the traditional brown cones that release winged seeds.White Fir Trees are fully hardy throughout the UK. They are able to withstand heat as well as cold temperatures with ease if their roots are kept from waterlogged conditions.Abies Concolor make good specimen trees when they are planted out individually. In the winter months they can be decorated with outdoor lights for a traditional Christmas effect, or you can try growing one in a container to restrict its size and move it indoors for a short while. A living Christmas tree will happily move back outdoors after the festive season if it is watered well and kept away from radiators.Abies Concolor or the Concolor Fir can be used as a hedge or evergreen screening or ornamentally in a garden that needs some winter interest. Large specimens are good for landscaping designs often fulfilling both a practical and ornamental role at the same time.Large free-growing trees can reach a height of 25m but they can be kept at a manageable height by cutting the leader branch. There is no need to prune a Concolor fir other than to restrict its height because they retain a conical shape as they grow, however, keeping your white fir tree shorter will encourage bushiness.White Fir Trees perform best in rich well-drained soils that are slightly acidic but they will grow in most conditions provided the soil is not heavy clay. They appreciate full sun and mulch around their roots in spring time.Fir trees are not just for Christmas because they make interesting architectural shapes in a garden, create wildlife habitats and will boost your outdoor space with year round colour. It’s worth considering a beautiful white fir tree if you need to fill a large space or want to landscape a lengthy piece of lawn.

Magnolia Grandiflora Little Gem for Sale Online UK & Ireland

Magnolia Grandiflora Little GemThe appeal of the magnolia tree is timeless.  The Magnolia Grandiflora Little Gem is a dwarf tree version of the classic large and sprawling magnolia grandiflora. The tree’s petite compact growth makes it an ideal choice of ornamental evergreen tree for a small garden setting. These Magnolia Little Gems have been trained as three-quarter standard trees on clear stems. The Magnolia Grandiflora Little Gem features large, evergreen leaves that look eye-catching year round. The underside of each shiny dark green leaf is a burnished red shade. Once per year the tree produces huge, fragrant, white flowers in abundance. It is not uncommon for the tree to start producing flowers when it stands only 90 centimeters tall. Flowers appear in the summer and often persist for two months or more. After flowering, the tree produces cone-like fruiting clusters that are adorned with clusters of bright red seeds. Many people consider the cones of the tree to be every bit as visually appealing as the tree’s flowers.   Its compact size and slow growth habits makes it ideal to grow as a specimen tree or as part of a hedge. It can also be trained to grow as an espalier against a fence or wall. The tree has even become a popular container tree to be placed around patios, pools, decks and other space-conserving locations. When fully grown, the Magnolia Grandiflora Little Gem attains a height of around 10 meters with a width of around 3 to 4 meters. However, full growth is often not attained until the tree is 30 plus years old. Plant the Magnolia Grandiflora Little Gem in full sun for best growth. It flourishes in moist, rich, peat-filled soils. The tree does not tolerate drought and prefers evenly moist soil conditions. Ideally, the tree’s best growth is attained when it is planted in slightly acidic soil. However, it will tolerate clay soil but its growth habits might be stunted or slowed.  Even though the Magnolia Grandiflora Little Gem flourishes in heat and humidity, don’t let its affinity for warmth fool you. The tree can tolerate temperatures that dip to minus 17 Celsius for as short time. The Magnolia Grandiflora Little Gem requires very little care to flourish. It benefits from an application of fertilizer in the spring and it will tolerate springtime pruning. A tough hardy tree, the Magnolia Grandiflora Little Gem is a welcome addition to any garden. Its year round beauty makes it a focal point wherever it is planted.
