Chrome style waste is commonly used when the installation is in plain view, such as in a public bathroom or hotel room.Polypropylene chrome style waste pipes are available in two size options. 32mm is generally used for washbasins and bidets, 40mm is used for baths, showers, kitchen sinks and dishwashers.This chrome style compression waste system is manufactured in the UK to BS EN 1451. It is commonly used to connect waste pipes of differing materials or those made by different manufacturers.When making a compression joint, cut the pipe square and remove any burrs. Unscrew the nut from the fitting and remove it along with the washer and the rubber seal. Place these three components over the end of the pipe first the nut, then the washer followed by the seal. The dished side of the rubber seal should face away from the nut and towards the fitting. With minor exceptions, the system should be included in calculations of unprotected area.Although the spread-of-flame across the surface of PVC is limited, the material does tend to char and may fall away when exposed to fire. Due consideration should always be given to any combustible materials behind the cladding, which may become exposed in the event of fire. Where necessary, cavity barriers should be incorporated behind the cladding, as required under the relevant national Building Regulations.
