Tacoma is a science fiction adventure FPP game by Fullbright studio, known from Gone Home . As in the case of the previous production, this time we are dealing with a title focused mainly on learning about history.
Story
The action takes place in 2088. The world has evolved significantly compared to what we are dealing with today. Spaceflight is as common as rail travel, extraterrestrial colonies are accessible to everyone, and highly developed AI is commonplace . The player takes on the role of Amy Ferrier - a woman who is just starting a new order on board a manned space station, serving as a reloading point in interstellar travel. But this is no ordinary job ... Amy was sent by the station-owner Venturis Corporation on a missionrecovering the core of an on-board artificial intelligence known as ODYN. AI is the only one who knows what happened at the station - all its living crew members have disappeared. Only fragments of holographic recordings remain, which may shed some light on this mystery .
Gameplay
The gameplay is based on the exploration of the location and is somewhat reminiscent of the previous title of the studio - with some improvements resulting from the SF convention. We have four extensive segments of the station at our disposal, full of on-board equipment, as well as personal items belonging to missing residents: souvenirs, photos and letters, with which we can freely interact. By carefully searching the location, we can find a valuable plot clue or an item that gives us access to closed rooms and stashes . The most interesting element of the game is the occasional holographic recordings containing conversations between the ship's inhabitants. We can scroll them freely back and forth, tracking the course of individual threads of the conversation and searching for hidden curiosities , e.g. fragments of conversations between human crew and AI. During the adventure, we discover new secrets, arranging them into a logical whole and finding out what and why happened to the station's crew.
