We are dealing here with the work of Frederick Raynal - the developer responsible for the game Alone in the Dark from 1992 - and the independent French studio Gloomywood, established in 2014.
Story
In the game, we play the role of Mr. Smith, a criminologist. Seventeen years ago, his wife was brutally murdered and the children kidnapped by unknown perpetrators. To this day, the man is looking for his children and his beloved killers, tracking down successive serial killers who target minors.
Gameplay
The player supports the hero in these activities, leading him through the hideouts of other criminals. The protagonist has to wander the basements and other dark places, full of traps and madmen. Along the way, we collect various items, mainly helping us to avoid dangers or eliminate them - light sources, keys, fuel, weapons, ammunition, etc. There are also notes, newspaper clippings and other "finds" that bring us closer to understanding the nature of kidnappings and murders as well as the motivations behind the perpetrators. In the game, however, the most important thing is not to deal with bloodthirsty psychopaths, but to save the would-be victims of their insanity. In various nooks and crannies of the location, we find children waiting to be rescued. As soon as we find such an innocent, it joins us - gradually this leads to the formation of a long live tail behind Smith. We control the branches using two commands ("Shhh!" And "Come on!"), But taking care of them is not easy.
