Rise of Nations Extended Edition is a real-time strategy game that was originally released in 2003 and has now been renewed with better graphics, Steamworks and Twitch Integration, and multiplayer ranked mode. The remastered edition was developed by SkyBox Labs, and while it includes new features, the gameplay elements remain the same as the original. The gameplay is inspired by popular franchises such as Age of Empires and Civilization, where players assume the role of a national leader starting from prehistoric times and guiding their society through eight ages over more than 50,000 years.As a leader, players must take care of various aspects of their society, including the military, economy, technology, diplomacy, and science. There are multiple strategies that players can undertake, such as focusing on military development to dominate neighbors or diplomatic solutions to create alliances and trade routes. The game features six main resources, including Food, Timber, Metal, Oil, Wealth, and Knowledge, which are crucial for national development. Additionally, the developers have prepared an advanced Technology Tree consisting of dozens of different inventions characteristic of a particular time period.In Rise of Nations Extended Edition, finding the balance between offense, defense, and the economy is the key to success. Players must think strategically and consider different unit strengths and weaknesses to be victorious in battles. There are five tactical formations in the game, and choosing the right one is important as it can change the final result of the battle. The game includes the base game and the expansion pack known as Rise of Nations: Thrones and Patriots, which features 18 different nations with unique characteristics, units, and technologies, from ancient warriors and knights to modern vehicles like helicopters and battleships.The game has received extremely positive reviews, with many fans praising the developers for adjusting the game for modern standards without changing the classic gameplay mechanics. The game received 89/100 points on Metacritic and over 97% positive reviews on Steam. Rise of Nations Extended Edition is a classic RTS game that offers an entertaining multiplayer mode where players can compete against each other.
