Bombay Sapphire East Gin 70cl

Bombay Sapphire East Gin Made using the same vapour inusion method as in the Bombay Sapphire Gin, the East edition uses 2 additional east inspired botanicals to make a total of 12. Bombay Sapphire's Master of Botanicals (Ivano Tonutti) has spent much of his time in the Far East sourcing exotic botanicals for distilling, and with the East edition, this is his personal homage to that area. To the classic blend of botanicals, Thai Lemongrass and Vietnamense black peppercorns are added. These two additional botanicals, along with the original ten (Almond, Angelica, Cassia, Coriander, Cubeb Pepper, Grains of Paradise, Juniper, Lemon, Licorice, and Orris Root) come together during the vapour infusion creating a gin that truly stands apart. With the infusion of the exotic eastern flavours, a wonderfully tasteful gin comes with more than a little added spice and a generous hint of citrus. The nose has a strong citrus edge to it, along with a hit from the black pepper. Through this permeates juniper and exotic flowers. The addition of the black pepper comes through in the flavour, with a balanced warmth, along with rich and fresh citrus notes. As the drink warms in the mouth delicate spice from coriander, angelica and orris come through. The finish is a delicious fusion of citrus and pepper. Star of Bombay Gin Expanding on the success of their signature style in the Bombay Sapphire Gin, they have created a bolder expression with Star of Bombay. They have expanded on their original ten botanicals by adding two carefully selected additional botanicals. These are the Ambrette seed (which they source solely from Ecuador) and the gently dried and hand-picked bergamot orange peel (from Calabria in southern Italy). Slowing down the vapour infusion process, they ensure the integrity of the 12 botanicals. This means the distillation process takes longer, and ensures rich aromas and deeper flavours in the gin. The whole process ensures that Star Of Bombay is an exceptionally smooth gin, with a distinctly intenser flavour than the original Bombay Sapphire from the additional botanicals. Yet it still maintains its fresh and clean flavour and aroma. Bombay Original London Dry Gin 1L

Bombay Original London Dry Gin The history behind the Bombay Sapphire brand goes back to 1986 in England, where the gins were distilled in Warrington. However in 2014 their home moved to a dedicated distillery at Laverstock Mill in Hampshire. They distill their gins using vapour infusion. This method suspends the botanicals over the boiling alcohol, and the vapour is infused with the flavours and aromas of the botanicals as it passes over them. This is a more delicate method of distilling, and  results in a  lighter and more floral taste. Two of their four stills (of the carterhead variety, and named Tom and Mary) date back to the 1830's. Whereas their Bombay Sapphire Gin, found in the blue bottles) use 10 different botanicals, their Bombay London Dry Gin uses only 8 carefully selected botanicals.  These are Juniper Berries, Liquorice, Cassia Bark, Coriander Seeds, Angelica Root, Lemon Peel, Orris (Iris) root and Almonds. Their recipe takes inspiration from an original dating back  to 1761. On the nose this has a fresh aroma, with grassy herbal notes, piney juniper and hints of lemon citrus. This leads into a palate which is equally fresh and full of classic dry juniper flavours. These are enhanced by a mild hint of lemon and more herbal notes from coriander. It finishes crisp and clean leaving the palate with pleasant dryness. More from Bombay Perfect Serve Whilst this works well in cocktails, as a true original classic dry gin we think this makes the perfect G&T. Take a large / tall glass and fill with ice. Add 50ml of the gin and pour over 150 - 200ml of your chosen (neutral) tonic. Whilst any premium tonic will work well, we like East Imperial Tonic Water. Bombay Sapphire Premier Cru Murcian Lemon Gin 70cl

Bombay Sapphire Premier Cru Murcian Lemon Gin Whilst citrus fruits are not new to Bombay Sapphire, for their Premier Cru edition they have really put citrus front and centre. The Spanish region of Murcia sits in a basin between mountain and sea, and creates a microclimate which is perfect for growing citrus. They slowly ripen during the winter months, and ensure fruit which has the best flavour and impactful taste. In this edition Bombay Sapphire take Fino lemons from this region (hand picked when at their ripest, and then hand peeled), as well as mandarins and sweet navel oranges. These are distilled using vapour infusion, which preserved more of the flavours at a lower temperature. The alcohol content in this gin is also slightly higher than usual, which captures perfectly the bold citrus flavours. The aroma is fullof zesty citrus aromas of orange and lemon, which are backed up by a spicy pine note. There's also a hint of woody hop like aromas. The flavours are full of citrus, but they do not overwhelm, and subtle and delicious. Hints of cracked pepper join piney juniper in a long and delicious finish. It also works well in the mix, particularly in a French 75 cocktail, or a classic Martini. For an invigorating gin & tonic take a large glass filled with ice and add 50ml of the gin.
