De Tetra teststrips stellen u in staat om snel en betrouwbaar de zes belangrijkste waterwaarden in aquariums te bepalen in één eenvoudige stap: dompel de teststrips onder in het water, draai ze één of twee seconden rond, schud overtollig water af en lees de belangrijkste informatie over de waterwaarden slechts 60 seconden later af. De kleurenkaart kan worden gebruikt om te bepalen of deze binnen het veilige bereik vallen. De pH, algemene en carbonaathardheid (GH + KH), nitriet (NO2-), nitraat (NO3-) en chloor (Cl2) in het aquariumwater worden gemeten. Aquariumbewoners zoals vissen reageren zeer gevoelig op overmatige veranderingen van de pH-waarde, wat hun welzijn beïnvloedt. De algemene hardheid heeft invloed op vitale functies van vissen terwijl carbonaathardheid directe invloed heeft op stabiliteit van pH-waarde (pH-buffer). De teststrips meten ook nitriet- en nitraatwaarden van het aquariumwater. Nitriet is extreem schadelijk zelfs bij zeer lage concentraties en mag niet detecteerbaar zijn in het water. Nitraat is een voedingsstof die plantengroei bevordert maar overdreven hoge niveaus NO3- kunnen schadelijk zijn voor vissen en overmatige algen groei bevorderd worden.Chloor kan ook aanwezig zijn in het water wat schadelijk is voor visjes and plantjes.Net als bij nitriet mag chloor niet detecteerbaar zijn in het aquariumwater. De Tetra Aquatics app kan worden gebruikt om de waterwaarden snel en betrouwbaar te bepalen met behulp van een smartphone.
