Portobello Road London Dry No. 171 Gin (Mini) 5cl

Portobello Road London Dry No. 171 Gin (Mini) 5cl

Portobello Road London Dry No. 171 Gin Whilst it may be better known for its saturday markets (which is famous for its second-hand clothes, pastries and antiques), Portobello Road in the west of London holds another secret... On the top two floors of a 19th century pub is The Ginstitute. London's second-smallest museum and home to a 30L alembic still, "Copernicus the Second". Whilst creating The Ginstiture, its creators (Ged, Jake and Paul) decided that to be a 'real' gin experience, they needed a gin which could call The Ginstitute home. So, after nine months of experimention, Portobello Road London Dry No. 171 Gin was born. They distill using a base spirit which is created from English-grown wheat, and join this with nine other carefully selected botanical ingredients including Juniper berries and Orris from Tuscany, Spanish Lemon Peels, Bitter Orange peels from Haiti or Morocco, Nutmeg from Indonesia and Cassia Bark from South East Asia. On the front of the palate, Portobello Road Gin has a generous hit of juniper, mid-palate there is a sustained, fresh citrus character from lemon, bitter orange and coriander, which then develops into a sweet peppery finish from liquorice and nutmeg. Read more about Portobello Road Perfect Serve Best served simply with tonic and a twist of pink grapefruit! Take a large glass filled with ice and add 50ml of the gin. Gently pour over 150 - 200ml of tonic (we like The Artisan Co Classic London Tonic).

Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin (Mini) 5cl

Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin (Mini) 5cl

Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin Created at the edge of a lake, in a small Irish town called Drumshanbo (from where the gin gets it's name). It's here you will find The Shed Distillery. This is a gin which is far from ordinary, they slow-distil their gin using some of natures finest oriental botanicals, along with gunpowder tea. The bottle itself hints at the creativity behind this gin. Showing the Jackalope, a creature of mystery and wonder. It is the mythological progeny of a jackrabbit, and an antelope. Apparently conceived during a lightning storm - the Jackalope appears in Drumshanbo at will.... like a dream. There one minute, gone the next in a flurry of feet and antlers. Drumshanbo is about bringing together previously unrelated things, for the first time - but likely not the last. Seeing possibilities in the unusual. Its for this reason the Jackalope has become the symbol of the remarkable Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin. A whole range of botanicals are used in the creation of this gin, inspired by the travels of PJ Rigney, the Master Distiller. Using juniper, coriander, star anise, orris carrot, chinese lemon, grapefruit, kafir lime and (as the name suggests) gunpowder tea. The gunpowder tea is a green tea which has been slowly dried, and gives a bold, bright and slightly spiced freshness to the gin. The nose on this gin is refreshingly light, and citrus-forward. There is a citrus zest note which blends with herbaceous juniper, as well as a little juniper. On the palate this is a blast! It explodes with flavours, with citrus dominating. Grapefruit really shines through here. Mid palate the juniper and tea come through, along with a bright note from juniper. The gin finishes quieter, slightly sweet with herbal notes. Anise, cardamom are subtle, and lead into meadowsweet - which lends a delicate honey vanilla nuance.  Whilst this has a rather eccentric blend of botanicals, they all work exceptionally well together, and the gin is a very balanced one. Read more about The Shed Distillery Perfect Serve For the Drumshanbo Signature serve, Take a large glass and fill with ice. Add 50ml of Gunpowder Gin, and add 150 - 200ml of a premium neutral tonic. Stir gently and garnish with a wedge of pink grapefruit.

Edinburgh Gin 1670 (Mini) 5cl

Edinburgh Gin 1670 (Mini) 5cl

"At Edinburgh Gin we are constantly striving to create new, classic gins with a modern twist. Working so closely with Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and Botanist, Dr Greg Kenicer, enabled us to experiment with a range of handpicked botanicals to create an enticingly aromatic gin with lively herbaceous – almost floral notes – with added peppery spice" - David Wilkinson, Head Distiller at Edinburgh Gin Lees meer over Edinburgh Gin Perfect Serve Deze onderscheidende gin kan worden genoten in een klassieke G&T, geserveerd met een premium Indian Tonic Water zoals Double Dutch Indian Tonic Water. 50 ml gin en 150 ml tonic werken perfect. Garneer met een vers basilicumblad om het drankje af te maken. Het werkt ook goed in cocktails, omdat de scherpe tonen een aanvulling vormen op klassieke cocktails zoals de Martini.

Poseidon Dry Gin (Mini) 5cl

Poseidon Dry Gin (Mini) 5cl

Poseidon Dry Gin Much like the sea, Poseidon Gin is bold, complex and multi-layered. Starting with fresh citrus, a velvety heart and a spicy finish, this gin uses distinctive seaweed to uncover a crisp but subtle hint of the sea. The combination of knowledge and effort are what go into creating Poseidon. Over 40 different botanicals and numerous variations, the right combination of was found. They essence of maritime passion was captured, a harmonious balance was struck and Poseidon Gin set foot into the world. There are 12 botanicals from around the world: wakame seaweed, rosemary, cardamom, elderflower, rosehip, liquorice, ginger, grains of paradise, cubeb berries, lemon peel, coriander seeds and of course, juniper berries. The name hints at what is to be experienced upon opening the bottle. It starts off with ocean freshness, which is then followed by intense juniper and warm spices. The aroma offers a harmonious get-together of the sea and the earth. Upon tasting, the power of the ocean really takes over. The juniper makes way for the Wakame (seaweed) to give a warm taste of the sea, accompanied by a surprising slightly sweet hint at the end. All of this is balanced by a long velvet mouthfeel that covers the tongue in a silky smoothness. The journey finishes warm and with lingering spices. A pleasant but subtle touch of pepper gives Poseidon that little bit of extra power. Read more about Poseidon Perfect Serve Serve with plenty of ice, Fever-Tree Mediterranean Tonic Water and garnish with a sprig of rosemary and a slice of lemon. Or for an added citrus edge, use Fentimans Valencian Orange Tonic, which gives a slight zestiness to the G&T For a Maritime Martini, mix equal parts Poseidon Gin and Martini Vermouth Extra Dry and garnish with olives.

IBHU Indlovu Citrus Gin (Mini) 5cl

IBHU Indlovu Citrus Gin (Mini) 5cl

IBHU Indlovu Citrus Gin The story beging IBHU's Pink gin starts the same way as with their original (and unique) gin. Whilst on a safari in Kenya, the founders were enjoying a g&t whilst watching a herd of elephants. Their guide was telling how particular elephants are in their browsiing habits, yet actually digest little of what they eat. So.... an idea was born.... would it be possible to make elephant dung gin? This is truly a gin made in Africa, which is designed by elephants! (Don't worry.... the dung is carefully collected, then washed and dried before being distilled!) Indlovu is even the word for elephant in several South African languages. It's these majestic animals which dictate, in their foraging habits, the botanicals utilised in the creation of this gin. This gin has a true provenance to it, similar to wines. The dung is collected in different locations, and at different times of the year. This dictates some of the botanicals found in the gin. On the back of each bottle are two numbers, the first is the co-ordinates of the game reserve where its collected, and the second is the date when it was collected. Whilst the elephants help in the making of the gin, the classical botanicals in the gin are Juniper, Angelica, Orris Root, Coriander and citrus. Those which are chosen by the elephants could include Buccu (Agathosma crenulata), Acacia (Acacia mearnsii), Guarii (Euclea undulata) and Erica (Erica coccinea) (which are the elephants’ favourite foods). This does however change season to season. With the Citrus gin, more of the elephants favourite foods are added to the gin. Taking their classic gin the folks at IBHU infuse it with the delicious marula fruit and wild oranges. This ensures there is a wonderfully fruity character to the gin, as well as the ancient spirit of the African savannah. The elephants absolutely love the deliciously tangy marula fruit - in fact it's probably their favourite food. Along with this, they also love wild oranges, and their heightened sense of smell means they can sniff them out at great distances! The two blend perfectly with the classic gin, giving another unique dimension to the Indlovu range of gins. Read more about IBHU Perfect Serve Whilst this is delicious in a classic gin & tonic (try with Fentimans Connoiseurs Tonic, or their Valencian Orange), we particularly loved this in an Indlovu Citrus Fizz. Take a tall glass filled with ice and add 40ml of the gin, 80ml of fresh orange juice and a splash of lime juice. Stir gently, and then fill the glass with soda water. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary and a slice of fresh orange.

Minke Irish Gin (Mini) 5cl

Minke Irish Gin (Mini) 5cl

Minke Irish Gin The founders of the Clonakilty distillery (located on the southwest coast of Ireland), the Scully family, have farmed their windswept coastal area of 9 successive generations. Through their love of the land, and knowledge of the area they found the best resouces for a maritime distillery. The distillery itself is located right at the waterfront, in the heart of Clonakilty town. Not only do they distill here, but also offer the public the option to see how their fantastic drinks are made. Produced at their distillery, Minke Irish gin is inspired by the maritime environment. From the Minke Whales seen swimming off the coast (giving their gin its name), to the Rock Samphire, a key botanical in their gin. This is sustainably harvested by hand from the Atlantic Ocean coastline and gives the gin a distinctly martitime flavour. Centuries of sea mist, soft rain and ocean spray provide a complexity to the soil that permeates through to the grass which feeds the cows that help produce whey. It is this whey that is used to create the base alcohol spirit used in making their Minke gin. It also gives a unique velvety texture and mouthfeel to it. This truly is a full circle gin, going 'from grass to glass'. Good to know: The Clonakilty Distillery support Whale and Dolphin Conservation in their worldwide quest to protect these majestic creatures. On the nose this is crisp and dry, reminiscent of a sea breeze. The flavour is also fresh and zesty. As the drink develops on the palate the Rock Samphire comes through with green, fennel-like flavours. It finishes with a slight saltiness, and warmth from red peppercorns. More from the Clonakilty Distillery Perfect Serve This makes a deliciously refreshing Gin & Tonic. Take a large glass and add a few large ice cubes. Pour in 60ml of Minke Gin and 120ml of your favourite tonic. We like Three Cents Tonic Water, or if you're feeling like adding more maritime notes - try with Three Cents Aegean Tonic Water. Garnish with two slices of lemon or lime and a fresh mint leaf.

Mermaid Gin (Mini) 5cl

Mermaid Gin (Mini) 5cl

Mermaid Gin Presented in a stunning "fish-scale" like bottle with a cork stopper, this gin has been hand-crafted on the Isle of Wight (a small island off the south coast of the UK) since 2014. The Isle of Wight Distillery use ten ethically sourced botanicals in the creation of Mermaid Gin. This signature gin was named after the lead botanical (rock samphire), which is known locally in the Isle of Wight as "Mermaid's kiss". This succulent is aromatic, and clings to the cliffs surrounding the island, and they mark the high tide line on the beautiful beaches it's known for. Like the kiss of the mythical mermaid (which saved sailors lost at sea), the rock samphire was a signal that shipwrecked sailors (and smugglers through history!) were safe from the raging seas. The samphire gives fresh citrus notes, as well as a delicate hint of fresh sea air. Other botanicals in this gin include elderflower for its aroma, grains of paradise for a smooth delicate pepper taste, organic lemon zest for vibrant citrus notes, boadicea hops which give a spicy earthiness, coriander which adds a delicate herbal citrus tone, angelica root which assists in blending the other botanicals into a coherent taste and aroma, liquorice root to help define the mouthfeel and add a touch of smoothness, orris root which aids in holding the aroma of the gin, and lastly (but no means least), juniper which is core in all gins.  It delivers a smooth yet complex blend of fresh organic lemon zest and peppery grains of paradise, with a hint of sea air from the locally foraged, fragrant rock samphire. A refreshing and invigorating serve, for the free-spirited. Did you know? The Isle of Wight Distillery care about the environment. In 2019, they completely removed plastic from their bottles. In 2021 they switched to only using 100% renewable energy suppliers at the distillery and in 2022 they achieved B Corp Certification - meeting rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. More from The Isle of Wight Distillery Perfect Serve This gin stands up well on its own, with its unique blend of botanicals, so we would suggest a neutral tonic such as Three Cents Tonic Water. However, if you would like to enhance the flavour profile, and bring our the sea a little more, try with Fever-Tree Mediterranean Tonic. With both, serve in a large glass with lots of ice, and garnish with a slice of lemon.
