This is one of the oldest forests in the Netherlands, and is in the Ginneken district, from which the brand borrows its name. With this gin, their inspiration is taken from the sweet scents of a summer forest. Like the Dry Gin, this is handmade with the best natural ingredients.  With this gin they present a delicious alternative to those who like a slightly sweeter gin. With the botanicals used in this gin the inspiration of the forest can clearly be seen. They use Scota Pine blossom along with the pine needles, angelica, cranberries, blueberries, heather, juniper, blackberry, blackberry leaves, and grain alcohol which ensures a smoothness With its slightly lower alcohol content than the dry, Ginneken Pink ensures it remains refreshing and a little milder in taste. It has delicious sweetened notes of the forest berries (blueberries and blackberries), along with a touch of blossom from pine buds. V2C Classic Dutch Dry Gin V2C takes pride in its home (Amsterdam), but like the Dutch of old, looks to the wider world when thinking of ingredients. They ensure that the gin is created to the highest standards, and use ingredients harvested from across the world. With their name, they indicate the intent behind the gin. Four friends founded V2C, and it was named after the address they lived during their studies, the famous Victor de Stuersstraat 2C in Maastricht. To this end, the gin was created to encourage lively conversation and good times with friends. With their Classic gin, they pay homage to the more classic gin flvaours, but with a definite V2C twist. They use the freshest juniper, orange, licorice, laurel and St John’s Wort, which they subtly spice with coriander, cardamom, lemon and ginger. This is a gin which is definitely juniper-forward (another "classic" part to the gin), which is joined perfectly with soft spice and tangy fruit. This brings a subtle, light complexity to the drink. The taste has a lot of oily juniper which coats the mouth perfectly. Pine and cardamom spice are balanced by refreshing citrus notes. Theres also a hint of vanilla flower which creeps in. All round this is a delicious gin, classic, but with something a little extra. Read more about V2C Perfect Serve Serve in a highball glass or copa with a lot of ice cubes. Pour in 50ml of the gin, and top up the glass with 150 - 200ml of Fentimans Premium Tonic Water. Garnish with a slice of fresh ginger, fresh lemon and a few juniper berries. Himbrimi Old Tom Gin 50cl

Himbrimi Old Tom Gin Both inspired by, and utilising herbs which are found along the banks of lakes and rivers in Iceland, this is a gin quite unlike anything you will have tried before. Using wild arctic thyme, angelica flowers (not the root!), lemon peel and juniper they blend with a neutral grain alcohol which is sweetened with honey. The aroma of this gin is woody, with a wild nature feel. Think pine bark, sweet dark honey and mosses. The flavour stands out - its proud of itself almost, with a bold flavour with defined spicy notes. The earthy notes detected in the nose come through too. Mid palatte the juniper comes forward with a freshness which is joined with thyme, lavender and a little tarragon. The finish is somewhat bitter from the herbs, with a sweetness which lightens it. It remains on the palate, reminding of the drink. This is definitely a gin which can be drunk slowly and savoured.  Read more about Himbrimi Perfect Serve Whilst this is a sweetened Gin (and therefore defined as an Old Tom), this is distilled with herbs, which blends a degree of bitterness into the end of the drink, similar to an Amaro (Italian sweetened herbal liqueur). Because of this, we really enjoyed drinking this on its own as a digestif. This would also make an interesting addition to a Negroni, bringing a different nuance of herbal flavours. For a longer drink, try with a Ginger Ale (Fentimans works well). 50ml of the gin with 150ml of the tonic is a good ratio, a couple of ice cubes and a garnish of a slice of orange.

Opihr Gin European Edition Aromatic Bitters For their European Edition, Opihr have taken inspiration from the 500 year Venitian history in the spice trade, and Italy's love of cascarilla bark (used to create highly aromatic tonic, bitters and vermouth's). Taking their Original oriental spiced gin,they have combined it with cascarilla bark and fragrant myrrh. This creates a bold and savoury-led spiced gin. Interesting Fact: While cascarilla bark is not native within Europe, it's present in many bitter liqueurs in the south of the continent and adds an aromatic and fragrant twist to Opihr's flavour profile. Hooghoudt RAW Genever For their RAW Genever, Hooghoudt have combined four different malt spirits (3 individually distilled - barley, wheat, rye and the classic malt mix of wheat corn and rye), and blended this with a carefully selected selection of juniper (it is Genever!), herbs and spices.  As this is a RAW genever, it is not aged in Oak barrels, which gives it the fresh character of a young genever. Unlike with gin, the alcohol base of malt is not just a carrier for the oils and spices - but also a flavour in itself of the genever itself - and adds a distinct flavour. The aroma of this genever has subtle grain notes, which are complemented with juniper, citrus and a herbal background. The flavour is again full of the grain used in its creation, with citrus, coriander and a mild touch of sweetness. Velverty in the mouth, and with a slight spice in the aftertaste.
