Tarquin's Rhubarb and Raspberry Gin 35cl

Tarquin's Rhubarb and Raspberry Gin 35cl

Tarquin's Rhubarb and Raspberry Gin Tarquin's is an independent family run distillery based in Cornwall (a county in the South-West of the UK). They pride themselves in creating distinctive, award-winning gins just that "little bit differently". creating some truly delicious gins. For their Rhubarb and Raspberry gin, Tarquin's bring a real taste of the Cornish coast and countryside. They distil with 14 botanicals sourced from across the globe and locally foraged on the wild Cornish coast. After distillation, they infuse their gin with 100% British rhubarb and raspberries which gives this special gin its beautiful blush colour. The botanicals which make this gin so special are: Juniper, Coriander Seed, Liquorice root, Angelica root, Orris Root, Green Cardamon, Cinnamon, Bitter Almonds, Fresh Orange, Lemon & Grapefruit Peel and Violets. Joining these are the signature flavours from the Rhubarb and Raspberries. The result is a gin which is a proud celebration of the delicious British rhubarb and raspberry. The aroma of this gin is enticing, and whilst fruity retains a prominent crisp juniper backbone. There are notes of lemon sherbert joined by eastern spices.  The flavours begin immediately with an initial hit of slightly sweet and tangy rhubarb sorbet, which is followed by fresh raspberries and a soft tang of juniper. The finish brings candied raspberries, and zesty citrus notes, before flowing into a finish which is dry. Read more about Tarquin's Perfect Serve It is perfect with a light tonic or ginger ale. We like this paired with Fentimans. Take a large glass filled with ice and add 50ml of the gin. Pour over 150ml of your preferred mixer, and garnish with fresh raspberries and a sprig of mint.

Hennessy VS Cognac 35cl

Hennessy VS Cognac 35cl

Hennessy VS Cognac The history behind Hennessy goes back to 1765. It was an Irish Jacobite officer who had served in the army of Louis XV that started the Hennesy Cognac Distillery. He had retired in the cognac region where he setup the distillery and began exporting his products to the UK and Ireland. Now known as one of the 'big four' cognac producers in the world (who between then produce around 85% of the world's cognac). Hennessy is the largest of the four, and produce around 70 million bottles of cognac a year. In fact, it was in 1840 that Hennessy became the worlds leading exporter of Brandy, and to this day have not lost that title. Being a type of Brandy, Cognac falls under the French appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) which means there are strict requirements to be called Cognac. These include twice distilling specific grape varieties in copper pot stills and aging for a minimum of two years in Limousin or Tronçais oak casks. The VS (very special) designation denotes that the youngest brandy within the blend has had the minimum two years in casks (it is always the youngest brandy in the blend which gives the designation).  Hennessy VS Cognac is a blend masterfully created from over 40 different eaux-de-vie. It is the Master Blender who oversees this process to ensure the quality.  The result of this blending and knowledge is a full bodied cognac. With a renowned smoothness, and a touch of sweetness it has distinct spice notes. The aging in wood gives a light nuttiness to the cognac, which join with flavours of rich dried fruits and berries. These are all rounded out by warming vanilla. Interesting fact: In 1813 Jean Fillioux was appointed Master Blender. A member of the Fillious family has kept this role ever since - more than 250 years and a total of eight generations! More from Hennessy Perfect Serve If enjoying straight up on its own, ensure you enjoy this at room temperature from a tulip glass. However this also works exceptionally well in the mix. Try mixing with ginger ale for a longer refreshing drink, which brings out the natural spice found in Hennessy V.S. Take a tall glass filled with ice and add 40ml of the V.S. Gently pour over 100ml of ginger ale (we like this with Fentimans), and stir gently. Garnish with a slice of lime.

Geschnapst Peer Fruitbrandewijn 35cl

Geschnapst Peer Fruitbrandewijn 35cl

Geschnapst Peer Fruitbrandewijn Fruit Brandy, or Schnapps, is something that is drunk often in the alpine countries (where it's enjoyed après-ski) and in Central and Eastern Europe. In these countries, quite frequently it's even distilled at home (almost every family has someone who distils). It's due to this that Nada knew Schnapps. Coming from a mixed Slovenian / Dutch background, she frequently visited her fathers family in Slovenia. Here hospitality is a way of life, where food and drink is enjoyed, and is part of their DNA. Even Nada's cousin produces his own drink for the family to enjoy. When looking for a great Schnapps she could enjoy in the Netherlands, Nada couldn't find anything that compared to what she enjoyed whilst with her family. So she decided to take matters into her own hands. She managed to get the (secret) family recipe, and then went about sourcing quality ingredients and the right people to help her create something special in the Netherlands. To create her Pear Schapps requires fruit, and a lot of it. Nada made a concious decision to utilise 'ugly' fruit. Fruit that has all the taste and flavour that's needed, but might be misshapen, or blemised on the outside.  For this reason, supermarkets aren't interested in it - so often it goes to waste. The taste for juice, or schnapps though is absolutely perfect. Dutch conference & sweet sensation pears are used to create this drink. When combined in the correct ratio, this gives the correct flavour profile. The fruit is juiced, and then allowed to ferment. Once this has been done, its distilled and the fermented juice is turned into a highly alcoholic drink. This is then blended with fresh water, until an abv of 40% is reached. At this point, it's ready.  Good to know: Not only does Nada ensure that fruit which would otherwise go to waste is used, but the distillery also uses 100% green electricity.  The resulting schnapps is a joy to drink. It has a distinct aroma of pears, and this carries through into the taste.  Perfect Serve This can be enjoyed straight up (at room temperature) on its own as an apertitif, a digestif or mixed with a quality tonic as a longer drink. (Nada recommends using a shot or grappa glass)
