Schodu Rum 50cl

Himbrimi Old Tom Gin 50cl

Himbrimi Old Tom Gin 50cl

Himbrimi Old Tom Gin Both inspired by, and utilising herbs which are found along the banks of lakes and rivers in Iceland, this is a gin quite unlike anything you will have tried before. Using wild arctic thyme, angelica flowers (not the root!), lemon peel and juniper they blend with a neutral grain alcohol which is sweetened with honey. The aroma of this gin is woody, with a wild nature feel. Think pine bark, sweet dark honey and mosses. The flavour stands out - its proud of itself almost, with a bold flavour with defined spicy notes. The earthy notes detected in the nose come through too. Mid palatte the juniper comes forward with a freshness which is joined with thyme, lavender and a little tarragon. The finish is somewhat bitter from the herbs, with a sweetness which lightens it. It remains on the palate, reminding of the drink. This is definitely a gin which can be drunk slowly and savoured.  Read more about Himbrimi Perfect Serve Whilst this is a sweetened Gin (and therefore defined as an Old Tom), this is distilled with herbs, which blends a degree of bitterness into the end of the drink, similar to an Amaro (Italian sweetened herbal liqueur). Because of this, we really enjoyed drinking this on its own as a digestif. This would also make an interesting addition to a Negroni, bringing a different nuance of herbal flavours. For a longer drink, try with a Ginger Ale (Fentimans works well). 50ml of the gin with 150ml of the tonic is a good ratio, a couple of ice cubes and a garnish of a slice of orange.

Arbikie Strawberry Vodka 50cl

Arbikie Strawberry Vodka 50cl

Arbikie Strawberry Vodka With a history going back through four generations, the Arbikie Highland Estate is a family owned farm located on the east coast of Angus (between Dundee and Aberdeen in Scotland). In an area where the weather and seasons can be turbulent, the family plant, sow, tend and harvest - resulting in crops of quality, which have been grown with passion. Now, three of the family brothers (John, Iain and David) are the visionaries and driving force behind the Arbikie Highland Estate distillery - creating drinks with the same passion that their famly has farmed the land with through the generations. To create their Strawberry Vodka, they use their potato vodka, and fresh strawberries. As the flavours come from fresh strawberries (and not artificial flavourings or chemicals), each season results in a slightly different taste - which reflects the seasons’ changeable weather. The strawberries give the smooth vodka a naturally fruity sweet flavour, with an enticing aroma of strawberry jam. More from Arbikie Highland Estate Perfect Serve Whilst we love the sweet fruity flavours in this vodka on its own, it's exceptional in adding a fruity edge to cocktails. How about a Strawberry 75 Cocktail? In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add 25ml of the Strawberry Vodka, 20ml lime juice, 15ml of sugar syrup (if you have it - try Rosemary Syrup) and 10ml of cranberry juice. Shake well and strain into a large wine glass. Top up with Prosecco, and garnish with a slice of strawberry.

Hernö High Coast Terroir Gin 2018 50cl

Hernö High Coast Terroir Gin 2018 50cl

Hernö High Coast Terroir Gin 2018 Hernö is the first dedicated gin distillery in Sweden, and is located in Dala on the high coast of Sweden. They only produce organic, artisanal gins, which are inspired by the natural beauty of Sweden. In 2016 Hernö launched their High Coast Terroir series. Each year they select different botanicals sourced from the High Coast of Sweden (to the north of Stockholm, on the Gulf of Bothnia).  For their 2018 edition, they differed their base spirit as well as the botanicals chosen. In this edition their bases partially comes from a malt base produced by one of their neighbours, the Lockeby Brewery. The botanicals from the High Coast that they used in this edition are: Elderflower, Juniper, Rowan Berries and Spruce Shoots. The resulting gin offers an aroma which is crisp, with the juniper coming through first, followed by an array of floral notes. There is a base note from the malt, and fresh citrus tones. On the palate there is a definite floral complexity, which blends with the juniper, somewhat softening it. The rowan lends a freshness to it. As the flavours develop in the mouth the elderflower comes forward, with a little warmth with peppery notes. The spruce adds a gentle sweetness. Overall this is a pleasure on the taste buds, with the flavours being balanced perfectly. More from Hernö Perfect Serve This is truly a special gin, and one we highly recommend enjoyed as it was designed to be. Take a rocks glass and add a large ice cube, and complete with 50ml of the gin. No garnish needed with this one!  However if you like your drinks longer, it makes an equally delicious Gin & Tonic. Take a large glass filled with ice and add 50ml of the gin. Gently pour over 150ml of your chosen tonic (we liked this with East Imperial Tonic Water). Garnish with a few juniper berries.

Kamiki Japanese Whisky Intense Wood 50cl

Kamiki Japanese Whisky Intense Wood 50cl

Kamiki Japanese Whisky Intense Wood Created in Nara, one of the ancient capitals of Japan - Kamiki whisky is a unique blended Japanese Whisky. The name itself, Kamiki is a blend of two Japanese words; Kami, meaning 'God' and Iki, meaning Breath. This came from the beautiful breezes which descend from the local mountain - which has long been considered a 'Sacred Mountain of the God'. Just like in their Blended Malt Whisky, it is created by blending rare Japanese Malt Whiskies with specially selected malt whiskies from the rest of the world. These are then blended with Japanese spring water. Rather than a predetermined ratio, the blending occurs when the malts are at their peak flavour. This means each batch is unique. After the blending process, the resulting Kamiki whisky is rested in Yoshino Sugi (Japanese Cedarwood) casks . This is where this edition differs, with this resting period being extended. This wood is particularly aromatic, and is considered the best wood locally to make drink casks for this reason. This extended period in these casks gives a far bolder edition - which is intensely woody. On the nose, this retains a fresh aroma - with delicate hints of dried tea leaves. The palate is far bolder than the original, and has intense cedar flavour with nuances of tea and tobacco. A maltiness joined by cinnamon merges with the intense wood flavours.  This leads into a finish which retains a peppery cedar flavour. A delicate sweetness emerges, which blends with the wood - and the taste buds are awoken by a dash of spice as the flavours leave the mouth. More from Kamiki Perfect Serve As with all whiskies, enjoy how you like to! However, we liked this one at room temperature with a splash of water.

Monkey 47 Schwarzwald Sloe Gin 50cl

Filliers Dry Gin 28 Classic 50cl

Filliers Dry Gin 28 Classic 50cl

Filliers Dry Gin 28 Classic Distilling in small batches, Filliers utilise traditional copper pot stills in the creation of their gin. The distillery itself was established in 1880. The recipe for their Classic gin utilises 28 different botanicals (hence the 28 in the name), and was created in 1928 by Firmin Filliers. Since then, the recipe has been passed down in the family, until, in 2012 it was delicately refined by the Filliers master distillers without compromising the character of the gin. The result is award winning, delicious on its own - and forms the base for their other gins. Whilst the full recipe is a closely guarded secret, some of the botanicals and fresh fruit distillates within the 28 total are known. These are Juniper, hops, angelica root, allspice, fresh oranges, cardamom, ginger, calm sauce, orange blossom, coriander seeds, lemongrass, lavender blossom, gentian root and fresh citrus fruits. The overall result is a deliciously spicy gin with a dry character with spicy notes of pine filled juniper. This is complemented by refreshing citrus aromas. The slightly higher alcohol content than unusual ensures this is a strong & aromatic spirit. Read more about Filliers Perfect Serve This gin works well with both a neutral tonic, or stands up well with a lemon tonic. We really enjoyed it with both Double Dutch Indian Tonic and their Double Lemon. Fill a long drink glass with ice, and pour in 50ml of gin. Top up with your chosen mixer (around 150ml - but add to your taste). Garnish with a few lemon slices.

44°N Gin 50cl

44°N Gin 50cl

44°N Gin Created to capture the "luminous depth of the sea and the windswept aromas of the Mediterranean in every drop", this is an ultra premium French gin. Named after the geographic location of its producer Comte de Grasse (literally Count of Grasse), it is situated just north of Cannes and west of Nice - in the Cote d’Azur, Southern France They utilise as many locally sourced botanicals as possible, Bitter Orange, Cade, Mimosa, Centifolia and Immortelle to ensure they capture the spirit of the area.  The flavour remains true to its mediterranean roots as well, with a floral body from hints of Grasse’s Rose Centifolia and bright jasmine. There is a touch of jam like sweetness through the bitter orange which is expertly countered with a herbaceous punch of Angelica and Samphire. A little warmth from a touch of pepper greets you throughour the drink. This doesn't overpower though, rather enhacing the other botanicals bringing them to life. The finish benefits deliciously from Orris and honey which ensure a sweet yet musky long-lasting effect on the tongue. These blend perfectly with the floral and citrus notes, all mingling perfectly together. Perfect Serve With a multitude of flavours within the drink, this works perfectly with a neutral tonic like Fever-Tree Indian Tonic. However, this also works particularly well with Fever-Tree Mediterranean Tonic, which adds a little more sweetness to the gin and tonic. With either tonic, we recommend 50ml of gin to 100 - 150ml of the tonic. With this gin, just plenty of ice and a large glass is needed. No garnish necessary as the gin really speaks for itself!
