Colombia is filled with incredibly diverse pockets of culture and is a melting pot of races, music, dances La Hechicera is a naturally 'unpolished' rum, which means it has not been rounded up with additives or sugar, its smoothness and flavour are the result of the noble wood it is aged in. Pusser's Rum Gunpowder Proof Spiced 70cl

Pusser's Rum Gunpowder Proof Spiced 70cl

Pusser's Rum Gunpowder Proof Spiced Pusser’s Rum is the original Royal navy Rum, distilled in wooden stills located in Guyana. It is the only rum blended to the Admiralty's exact specifications, a specification that was last used on July 31, 1970, ending a 300 year old tradition. The blend is rich and full-bodied and aged for a minimum of 3 years in charred oak bourbon barrels. It is also exceptionally smooth due to its wooden 'pot stilled' heritage. These stills provide a deep flavour, having absorbed unique and organic flavours over many decades of use, something that a mass produced rum would struggle to replicate. The rich flavour is all natural, with no added artifical colourings or flavouring and made using molasses, made from sugar cane grown in the "Valley of Navy Rum". This is the nickname for the Demerara River Valley, a region that once had 300 sugar cane estates, all of which had their own distillery, and an area celebrated for its production and distribution of sugar since the 1600's.  For their Gunpowder Proof Spiced Rum, they enhace the flavours with a higher abv of 54.5% and also add a delicious combination of spices. It has the same dark coppery amber colour and intense aroma of the Gunpowder Proof rum. You are greated by the strong smelling molasses, which are joined by banana, chocolate and sweet vanilla. Again there is a whiff of oak from the barrel and the spiced aromas of cinnamon and mild ginger. On the palate, the flavours are enhanced by the higher abv compared to the lower proof Pussers Blue Label. It is full bodied, and yet despite its strength, has a smooth and mellow finish. Did you know? To test the strength of the sailors daily tots of rum on the Navy ships, a little gunpowder was added. If it ignited, then it was 'at proof'. If it didn't, then the ships 'Pusser' (the purser aboard ship)  might find themselves tossed overboard.  More from Pusser's Rum Perfect Serve Pusser's Rum Gunpowder Proof Rum can be sipped neat with or withour ice, or in the mix as a classic Spiced Rum and Cola. For the cocktail lovers, how about a Cinnamon Rum Iced Coffee. Stir 50ml Pussers Gunpowder Prrof Spiced Rum, 120ml espresso and 10ml cinnamon syrup in a glass with ice. Top with 30ml Irish Cream Liqueur and enjoy.

Rynbende Vintage Genever 70cl

Rynbende Vintage Genever 70cl

The Mayor of Exploration: Rynbende Vintage Genever Introduction Rynbende have a history going back more than 200 years. The distillery was established in 1793, by Simon Rybende in the world's Jenever capital, Schiedam. A former sailor, he turned to business, and distilling, and was even appointed the Mayor of Schiedam. A New Generation of Rynbende The Rynbende brand has had highs and lows during it's history and was re-ignited again in 2022, when the original Rynbende recipes were passed down to another generation through inheritance . Now called Rynbende Spirits, the focus is on producing high end spirits, with a selective distribution network (of which Gin Fling is happy to be one). Authentic Rynbended Botanicals Rynbender Vintage Genever was the first spirit to be launched and based on an old recipe found in the inherited recipe book. 'The Mayor of Exploration' is an old genever and is an ode to the glory days of the original distillery, containing authentic botanicals (peppermint leaf, angelica seed, cinnamon, clove, hyssop, angelica root, cardamom and mace) which gave it it's signature taste, setting it apart from the competition. Traditional Distilling Rynbende is distilled according to the Schiedam tradition from 1902, which produces a purer drink. It is made with malt wine that has been aged for 3 years in American oak barrels, and with smoky malt whiskey and vodka aged in European oak barrels for 25 years. This is a drink that will suit both jenever and whiskey lovers alike. Tasting Notes Aroma: Juniper berries are combined with cinnamon, camphor and a hint of peat, with underlying floral and fresh citrus notes Taste: Warm, woody notes are complimented by mint leaves, cloves, a touch of lemon and a delicate sweetness. Finish: Intense and long, More from Rynbende Perfect Serve Perfect to sip neat, Rynbende Vintage Genever is also great in cocktails. Inspired by the 'Dark n Stormy' but with genever instead or rum, how about a Stormy at Sea. Flll a glass with ice and squeeze in the juice of half a lime. Add 100ml ginger beer and pour 50ml Rynbende Vintage Genever over the back of a spoon so you get a nice layer on the top. Add a wedge of lime and enjoy. FAQ's What is the difference between genever and gin? Genever is only ever made from grains like rye, malted barley and corn, whereas Gin can be distilled from anything, including grains, grapes and even potatoes. Genever is often described as a cross between gin and whiskey and appeals to drinkers of both spirits. Where is Rynbende Vintage Genever made? It is distilled using traditional methods in Schiedam, known as the Jenever capital of The Netherlands. How should Rynbende Vintage Genever be served? Neat, on the rocks, or in a cocktail. It tastes great with ginger beer and works well in a variation of a Dark n Stormy cocktail.  What food works well with Rynbende Vintage Genever? Perfect when paired with seafood, whether it's a seafood banquet, tuna sushi, a salmon and cream cheese baguette or spicy mussels. Does Rynbende Vintage Genever make a good gift? Absolutely. It comes in a stylish gift tube and contains a booklet telling the Rynbende story.
