This is a tropical gin, but one with a wolf's bite! They have infused their craft spirit with juicy white peaches and sweet passionfruit, giving a truly tropical taste sensation. But they didn't stop there! Rounding out the flavour profile, they have added a hint of citrus sharpness from Yuzu. The classic pine juniper notes remain, but as Lonewolf says "this wolf's sitting pool side with shades on". Overall this makes this a drink which is perfect for breezy days and balmy nights. This gin sets itself apart from the crowd using a base of alcohol which is distilled from Ugni Blanc grapes in the Cognac region of France. This, along with select other botanicals, and even grape flowers go to produce what can only be described as a quintessential French gin! Hooghoudt Sweet Spiced Genever With their sweet spiced genever, Hooghoudt bring a contemporaty twist to Genever - and sure to please genever lovers, as well as introduce it to a whole new audience. Made in a traditional way, with juniper and spice - this has a sweetened taste (as the name suggests), being made also with vanilla and cinnamon.  This is a really apppealing genever on the nose, with a sweet caramel aroma and hints of vanilla and cinnamon. There is a definite note of juniper too, and a touch of liquorice. On the palate this has similar notes to the aroma. It's smooth, and bursting with flavour. There's quite a lot of spice, but mild and warming rather than full of heat. A touch of fruit from grapefruit and apricot, and caramel along with vanilla really come through as well. Overall an almost candy like flavour - but of the adult variety! Read more about Hooghoudt Perfect Serve This can be enjoyed neat just below room temperature, but we like this as a longer drink. In a tall glass filled with ice, pour 50ml of the genever and top up with 150 - 200ml of Ginger Ale (we like this with Fever-Tree Ginger Ale). Gingery Poolside Gin If you're a fan of gin, then grab a towel and a glass and get down to the pool as this is the gin for you! (If you're not a fan of ginger there's no beating around the bush..... this isn't the gin for you!). This is a gin where the Ginger (with a capital G) is the star of the show. Whilst juniper and other spices are found in the gin, they most definitely play a backing role. The aroma and flavour leave nothing to the imagination. Juniper, a touch of citrus and ginger are there from the start. Exceptionally refreshing, and deliciously warming with it. Ginneken Pink Gin This is the second gin from Ginneken, and is also inspired by the Mastbos (Fir forest) in Breda. This is one of the oldest forests in the Netherlands, and is in the Ginneken district, from which the brand borrows its name. With this gin, their inspiration is taken from the sweet scents of a summer forest. Like the Dry Gin, this is handmade with the best natural ingredients.  With this gin they present a delicious alternative to those who like a slightly sweeter gin. With the botanicals used in this gin the inspiration of the forest can clearly be seen. They use Scota Pine blossom along with the pine needles, angelica, cranberries, blueberries, heather, juniper, blackberry, blackberry leaves, and grain alcohol which ensures a smoothness With its slightly lower alcohol content than the dry, Ginneken Pink ensures it remains refreshing and a little milder in taste. It has delicious sweetened notes of the forest berries (blueberries and blackberries), along with a touch of blossom from pine buds. Poetic License Old Tom Gin Reminiscent of the types of gin that were enjoyed in the 1800's, Old Tom Gin's are sweeter - and have been making a come back recently. With theirs, the Poetic License Distillery in Sunderland (North UK) have made a gin which is sweeter than their Dry Gin, but with a touch of pepper. The botanicals they use enhance the sweeter taste, and the oak casks they use continue to add additional flavour and colour. The inclusion of hibiscus and rose petals infuses their distinct character within the gin, also adding a delightful rose gold tinge. On the nose this gin is quite aromatic, with distinct floral aromas. However, with its juniper back note there is no forgetting this is a gin! On the palate the sweetness really comes through, tempered with the pepper spice - the sugary petal flavours blend perfectly. They ensure that the gin is created to the highest standards, and use ingredients harvested from across the world. With their name, they indicate the intent behind the gin. Four friends founded V2C, and it was named after the address they lived during their studies, the famous Victor de Stuersstraat 2C in Maastricht. To this end, the gin was created to encourage lively conversation and good times with friends. With their Classic gin, they pay homage to the more classic gin flvaours, but with a definite V2C twist. They use the freshest juniper, orange, licorice, laurel and St John’s Wort, which they subtly spice with coriander, cardamom, lemon and ginger. This is a gin which is definitely juniper-forward (another "classic" part to the gin), which is joined perfectly with soft spice and tangy fruit. This brings a subtle, light complexity to the drink. The taste has a lot of oily juniper which coats the mouth perfectly. Pine and cardamom spice are balanced by refreshing citrus notes. Theres also a hint of vanilla flower which creeps in. All round this is a delicious gin, classic, but with something a little extra. Read more about V2C Perfect Serve Serve in a highball glass or copa with a lot of ice cubes. Himbrimi Old Tom Gin 50cl

Himbrimi Old Tom Gin 50cl

Himbrimi Old Tom Gin Both inspired by, and utilising herbs which are found along the banks of lakes and rivers in Iceland, this is a gin quite unlike anything you will have tried before. Using wild arctic thyme, angelica flowers (not the root!), lemon peel and juniper they blend with a neutral grain alcohol which is sweetened with honey. The aroma of this gin is woody, with a wild nature feel. Think pine bark, sweet dark honey and mosses. The flavour stands out - its proud of itself almost, with a bold flavour with defined spicy notes. The earthy notes detected in the nose come through too. Mid palatte the juniper comes forward with a freshness which is joined with thyme, lavender and a little tarragon. The finish is somewhat bitter from the herbs, with a sweetness which lightens it. It remains on the palate, reminding of the drink. This is definitely a gin which can be drunk slowly and savoured.  Read more about Himbrimi Perfect Serve Whilst this is a sweetened Gin (and therefore defined as an Old Tom), this is distilled with herbs, which blends a degree of bitterness into the end of the drink, similar to an Amaro (Italian sweetened herbal liqueur). Because of this, we really enjoyed drinking this on its own as a digestif. This would also make an interesting addition to a Negroni, bringing a different nuance of herbal flavours. For a longer drink, try with a Ginger Ale (Fentimans works well). 50ml of the gin with 150ml of the tonic is a good ratio, a couple of ice cubes and a garnish of a slice of orange.
