Brecon Special Reserve Gin (Mini) 5cl

Brecon Special Reserve Gin (Mini) 5cl

Brecon Special Reserve Gin Launched in 2001, Brecon Special Reserve is the first gin developed by the Penderyn Distillery (best known for its Whiskey). It's made with alcohol spirit made from Barley, 10 largely traditional gin botanicals, and is blended with water from the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales. They source the best botanicals from around the world to ensure a perfectly balanced gin. These include Chinese cassia bark, Sri Lankan liqourice and Italian orris root. These include Chinese cassia bark, Sri Lankan liqourice and Italian orris root. The total botanical compliment is Juniper, lemon peel, orange peel, coriander seeds, angelica root, liqourice, cinnamon, orris root, cassia bark and nutmeg. Whilst Penderyn may be better known for its Whiskey, this is a gin which stands up in its own right. Well balanced, and full of flavour it was awarded the Gold 'Best in Class' award at the 2011 International Wine and Spirits Competition. On the nose this has a classic aroma, full of juniper and piney earthy notes. On the palate it's warm, with just the right amount of spice. Thisperfectly balances the juniper and citrus in the gin. The finish is long, and hints of cinnamon and the juniper carrying through to the end. Read more about Brecon Perfect Serve This makes a delicious classic gin & tonic. In a large glass filled with ice add 50ml of the gin. Gently pour in 150 - 200ml of your favourite tonic (we like both the Indian Tonic and Refreshingly Light tonics from Fever-Tree). Stir gently and garnish with lemon zest.

Glenfiddich Single Malt 12Y Scotch Whisky (Mini) 5cl

Glenfiddich Single Malt 12Y Scotch Whisky Having been founded in 1886 by William Grant, the first whisky ran from their stills on Christmas Day in 1887. The name actually name comes from the location of the distillery, situated in the glen of the river Fiddich. It's also the most awarded at the IWSC and claims the distinction of being the world's best-selling single-malt whisky. It's known for both its freshness and distinctive fruitiness, both a result of its production methods. Mellowed in oak marrying tuns to ensure a sweet, yet subtle oak flavour.  On the nose the renowned fresh and fruity aroma comes through with a hint of pear. The finish rounds out long and smooth, finishing deliciously mellow. Read more about Glenfiddich Perfect Serve Whisky is best enjoyed as you like it! With Glenfiddich this is no different. We recommend trying with a few drops of water, or perhaps a single cube of ice. However, as with any quality dram, room temperature and savoured slowly also works exceptionally well.

Portobello Road London Dry No. 171 Gin (Mini) 5cl

Portobello Road London Dry No. 171 Gin (Mini) 5cl

Portobello Road London Dry No. 171 Gin Whilst it may be better known for its saturday markets (which is famous for its second-hand clothes, pastries and antiques), Portobello Road in the west of London holds another secret... On the top two floors of a 19th century pub is The Ginstitute. London's second-smallest museum and home to a 30L alembic still, "Copernicus the Second". Whilst creating The Ginstiture, its creators (Ged, Jake and Paul) decided that to be a 'real' gin experience, they needed a gin which could call The Ginstitute home. So, after nine months of experimention, Portobello Road London Dry No. 171 Gin was born. They distill using a base spirit which is created from English-grown wheat, and join this with nine other carefully selected botanical ingredients including Juniper berries and Orris from Tuscany, Spanish Lemon Peels, Bitter Orange peels from Haiti or Morocco, Nutmeg from Indonesia and Cassia Bark from South East Asia. On the front of the palate, Portobello Road Gin has a generous hit of juniper, mid-palate there is a sustained, fresh citrus character from lemon, bitter orange and coriander, which then develops into a sweet peppery finish from liquorice and nutmeg. Read more about Portobello Road Perfect Serve Best served simply with tonic and a twist of pink grapefruit! Take a large glass filled with ice and add 50ml of the gin. Gently pour over 150 - 200ml of tonic (we like The Artisan Co Classic London Tonic).

Black Tears Dry Spiced Rum (Mini) 5cl

Black Tears Dry Spiced Rum (Mini) 5cl

Black Tears Dry Spiced Rum Coming from Cuba, a place where people don’t hold back and they express their true emotions - this is a drink made to evoke emotion. This even goes into where the name came from. Inspiration was taken from a Cuban song (Lagrimas Negras), which tells the story of a young woman who was so overcome with emotion that she sobbed into a vat of rum, filling it with her sorrows. Black Tears is a rum pack full of emotion, which aims to celebrate the contemporary Cuba. This is a blend of Cuban rum and spices. Its based on a silver dry rum from one of the best Cuban distilleries and is the first dry spiced cuban rum on the market. Setting itself apart from other spiced rums, this has a bittersweet taste and a low sugar content (typical for Cuban rums). The spices used are coffee and cacao, and aji dulce (a sweet pepper, used heavily in local cuisine).  This is a rum which has a cool, golden intensity - which is both bright and clear. The flavour has a gentle sweetness from cocoa, which is accompanied with a punch from coffee on the finish. There is also an intruiging peppery spice, which lingers deliciously.  This is an elegant, and overall very well-balanced dry spiced rum. Rea more about Black Tears Perfect Serve A versatile rum, this can be enjoyed on its own or in the mix. We love this as a Tears 'n' Cola. In a highball glass filled with ice add 50ml of the rum, and pour over 150ml of your favourite cola. Stire, and garnish with a slice of lime

Ballantine's Finest Whisky (Mini) 5cl

Ballantine's Finest Whisky (Mini) 5cl

Ballantine's Finest Whisky With a heritage that dates back to 1827, Ballantines is one of the most known and loved Scotch Whisky brands in the world. It started with George Ballantine in a small grocery store in Edinburgh. Here he would supply a range of whiskies to his customers. his developed into a larger establishment in Edinburgh, where along with his son George Junior they began to create their own blends. In 1920, the recipe for Ballantine's Finest was created, and it has stayed true to the original ever since. The result is a whisky which has become Europe's No. 1 Scotch Whisky, and was voted the World's Best Blended Scotch in 2020. Fun Fact: During prohibition, the bottles were designed to be square so that American Salesmen could conceal them in their briefcases without them rolling around should any inspectors be around! Finest is a great classic all-rounder. It has a light gold colour, and a nose which is soft, with notes of heather, honey and just a hint of delicate spice. The flavour is balanced well, subtle, and has hints of milk chocolate, red apples and vanilla. The finish leaves the palate feeling fresh, with a floral after-taste. More from Ballantine's Perfect Serve As a classic, balanced all-rounder, this is easily enjoyed on its own, over ice, or with a splash of water. It works well in the mix too, either in cocktails, or more simply with a mixer such as cola or ginger ale. Try adding 50ml to a highball glass filled with ice, then top up with a quality cola or ginger ale (we like Fentimans). Delicious, and really refreshing.

Blind Tiger Piper Cubeba Gin (Mini) 5cl

Blind Tiger Piper Cubeba Gin (Mini) 5cl

Blind Tiger Piper Cubeba Gin Whilst it gives a striking look to the bottle, there is a reason behind the name of Blind Tiger. Another name for a speakeasy, A blind tiger was a hidden bar which served alcohol during the period of prohibition. The door of the place would have the picture of a blind tiger or a blind pig, so those in the know would know where to go! Blind Tiger's Piper Cubeba gin is made in small batches in a "concealed" distillery in the west of Belgium, they macerate and distill the botanicals together before adding double distilled cubeb pepper. Daring and invigorating, this gin has a unique blend of botanicals, which give it a distinct spicy profile from the cubeb pepper, which is joined with hints of citrus from orange. Unusually, they use malted barley in their distillation along with the required juniper. These are joined with corriander seeds, bitter orange peel, orange blossom, ginger, green cardamom, lavender and licorice, angelica and orris root. Finally, a secret Belgian botanical is added. Definitely a spicy gin, with clear citrus notes. The end finish is spicy too, with the piper cubeb (pepper) coming through as well as a warmth from the malted barley and earthy notes from ginger liquorice and cardamom.   Read more about Blind Tiger Perfect Serve Whilst this is really delicious drunk on its own over ice, having it as a gin tonic brings out a slightly different character. The bubbles tone down the spicy notes a little, and the quinine helps draw out the citrus a little more. It works best with a neutral, and dry tonic such as Three Cents Dry Tonic. In a glass filled with ice, add 50ml of the gin to 150ml of the tonic. Garnish with a slice of orange, and some black peppercorns.

Bareksten Botanical Gin (Mini) 5cl

Bareksten Botanical Gin (Mini) 5cl

Bareksten Botanical Gin Produced by Oss Craft Distillery in Norway, Bareksten Botanical Gin has been made to represent the true essence of Norway. It is dark, wild, breathtaking and dramatic in the look of the bottle, the aromas as you open it, and the taste when you drink it.  Bareksten takes its inspiration from the Norwegian Forests. The long days of sunlight in the summer, combined with ample rain and warm weather ensure perfect growing conditions for a number of herbs and berries. These Nordic, natural and organic herbs, potatoes and berries form the basis for the unique flavour of Bareksten. In fact, 26 different botanicals are used in the production, 18 of which are locally sourced - growing around the distillery itself. Wild blueberries, lingonberries, rhubarb, and elderflower are just some of the botanicals found in Bareksten. The aroma of this reminds of the forest, earthy, slightly oak like, along with the pine like smell of classic juniper. The taste takes you on a true journey journey of flavours. It's a potent gin, with a sublime and fruity expression. Classic gin notes of citrus and juniper evoke something known and comforting, yet the additional botanicals take you on a taste journey through the Norwegian wilderness. Slight sweetness from berries, warming earthy notes, yet this isn't a heavy drink. It's extremely refreshing, and one you will come back to time after time. Read more about Bareksten Perfect Serve This is definitely best served with a neutral tonic such as Fentimans Connoisseurs Tonic Water. Take a large glass filled with plenty of ice, and add 50ml of the gin. Pour over 150ml of the tonic, and stir gently. Finish off with a garnish of a slice of orange, or a few blueberries (frozen work really well). It also works exeptionally well in the mix, in particular in a classic Martini.

Minke Irish Gin (Mini) 5cl

Minke Irish Gin (Mini) 5cl

Minke Irish Gin The founders of the Clonakilty distillery (located on the southwest coast of Ireland), the Scully family, have farmed their windswept coastal area of 9 successive generations. Through their love of the land, and knowledge of the area they found the best resouces for a maritime distillery. The distillery itself is located right at the waterfront, in the heart of Clonakilty town. Not only do they distill here, but also offer the public the option to see how their fantastic drinks are made. Produced at their distillery, Minke Irish gin is inspired by the maritime environment. From the Minke Whales seen swimming off the coast (giving their gin its name), to the Rock Samphire, a key botanical in their gin. This is sustainably harvested by hand from the Atlantic Ocean coastline and gives the gin a distinctly martitime flavour. Centuries of sea mist, soft rain and ocean spray provide a complexity to the soil that permeates through to the grass which feeds the cows that help produce whey. It is this whey that is used to create the base alcohol spirit used in making their Minke gin. It also gives a unique velvety texture and mouthfeel to it. This truly is a full circle gin, going 'from grass to glass'. Good to know: The Clonakilty Distillery support Whale and Dolphin Conservation in their worldwide quest to protect these majestic creatures. On the nose this is crisp and dry, reminiscent of a sea breeze. The flavour is also fresh and zesty. As the drink develops on the palate the Rock Samphire comes through with green, fennel-like flavours. It finishes with a slight saltiness, and warmth from red peppercorns. More from the Clonakilty Distillery Perfect Serve This makes a deliciously refreshing Gin & Tonic. Take a large glass and add a few large ice cubes. Pour in 60ml of Minke Gin and 120ml of your favourite tonic. We like Three Cents Tonic Water, or if you're feeling like adding more maritime notes - try with Three Cents Aegean Tonic Water. Garnish with two slices of lemon or lime and a fresh mint leaf.

Monkey Shoulder Blended Malt Scotch Whisky (Mini) 5cl

Monkey Shoulder Blended Malt Scotch Whisky (Mini) 5cl

Monkey Shoulder Blended Malt Scotch Whisky First produced in Scotland by Willian Grant & Sons in 2003, Monkey Shoulder is a blended malt whisky (the style used to be called 'Vatted Malt Whisky'). Since it's introduction it has fast grown to become the world's third best-selling brand of Scotch Whisky.  Whilst Monkey Shoulder has only been produced since 2003, William Grant & Sons has been distilling award-winning Scotch whiskies since 1887. It was created primarily to ensure the perfect whisky cocktail (but of course can also be enjoyed straight!). It was originally a blend from the Balbenie, Glenfiddich, and Kininvie distillers - but it's current composition is a secret. However it is known that its constituent malt whiskies originate from the Speyside region of Scotland (the area around the River Spey in northeastern Scotland). Fun Fact: The brand name 'Monkey Shoulder' is a reference to a repetitive strain injury which distillery workers often suffered from. This was due to long shifts turning malt by hand. On the nose there is zesty orange, with vanilla honey and spiced oak. On the palate there is a mild vanilla flavour, with hints of spice. As it was made to be mixed, its smooth, malty and fruit notes are strong enough to stand out in the mix - but remain balanced so as not to over-power a cocktail. More from Monkey Shoulder Perfect Serve As mentioned, this is a whisky which was made for mixing - and so we have a couple of options. Firstly, for a refreshing OMG (Orange / Monkey / Ginger), a variation on the Ginger Mule. Take a tall glass filled with ice and add 50ml of the Monkey Shoulder and 120ml of your favourite ginger ale (we like Fentimans). Stir gently and garnish with a wedge of Orange. For a Rob Roy Cocktail, take a mixing glass filled with ice and add 50ml of Monkey Shoulder, 25ml of Sweet Vermouth, and 3 dashes of Angostura Bitters. Mix well until chilled and then strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with some orange zest.
