It was this ethos that the creators of Generous followed when creating their gin.  They wanted an original, easy to drink and appreciate gin, one which was simple but would deliver the best Gin & Tonic. They used great natural ingredients (and in this edition, 100% organic), and produced in high precision small pot-stills. The botanicals they chose for their organic edition were Juniper, Citrus, Mandarin, Red Pepper, Combava & Coriander. Depending on the botanical, they either macerate the botanical, or distill, to ensure the flavours are captured and not destroyed. On the nose, this is a really fresh smelling gin, with a touch of sweetness. There is a hint of juniper which is balanced perfectly by lemony notes. The flavours are fresh and fruity, thanks to the combination of coriander and combava. Glenfiddich Single Malt 12Y Scotch Whisky Having been founded in 1886 by William Grant, the first whisky ran from their stills on Christmas Day in 1887. The name actually name comes from the location of the distillery, situated in the glen of the river Fiddich. In scots gaelic Glenfiddich means 'valley of the deer', hence the stag found on the bottles. This whisky has been produced since 2008 and is awarded the world over. It's also the most awarded at the IWSC and claims the distinction of being the world's best-selling single-malt whisky. It's known for both its freshness and distinctive fruitiness, both a result of its production methods. The freshness comes from the highland spring water (used since 1887), and the fruitiness form the high cut point which was insisted on by William Grant himself.  The maturation occurs in both american oak, and european oak sherry casks for at least 12 years. Mellowed in oak marrying tuns to ensure a sweet, yet subtle oak flavour.  On the nose the renowned fresh and fruity aroma comes through with a hint of pear. The taste has fruity notes with a characteristic sweetness. These develop into a creamy butterscotch, delicious malt notes and subtle oak flavours. Generous Gin Sometimes simplicity can deliver the best, or most flavourful experiences. It was this ethos that the creators of Generous followed when creating their gin.  They wanted an original, easy to drink and appreciate gin, one which was simple but would deliver the best Gin & Tonic. They used great natural ingredients, and produced in high precision small pot-stills. Being a French gin, they worked like they might do with a great perfume, or fine wine. Ensured it was well balanced, smooth and aromatic, and above all, elegant (it is French after all!). The botanicals they finally chose were Juniper, citrus, mandarin, red pepper, jasmine and elderflower. Depending on the botanical, they either macerate the botanical, or distill, to ensure the flavours are captured and not destroyed. On the nose, whilst juniper is the dominant aroma, it is softened by the floral notes of jasmine and elderflower. When tasting the flavours open up on the palate, with citrus and spice coming forward, before they are balanced by the juniper. Finally, floral notes helps to soften, with almost sweet jasmines notes tantalising the mouth. The finish is refreshing and long, with the delicate spice of red pepper remaining to the end merging perfectly with citrus fruits and juniper. King's Hill Gin Made in the Pentland Hills, to the South-West of Edinburgh Scotland, King's Hill Gin is a small batch Scottish Gin. The name comes from a bet taken between King Robert the Bruce and Sir William 'The Crusader' Sinclair of Roslin. The bet was who could catch the elusive white Pentland Stag, and was won by Sinclair. However, in true knightly manner - he named the hillside in the King's honour. The exquisite bottle, which fades from blue to clear is a nod to the crystal clear water used in the creation of the gin, from the Glencorse area. The diamond effect also shows the royal inspiration.  This gin is a perfect combination of some of the more common gin botanicals, as well as those foraged locally around the distillery. This is definitely a classic gin though, and the piney juniper berries form a strong backbone to this gin. Foraged locally, heather, rosehips, gorse and elderflower are also used. These add a great depth and smoothness to the gin.  The attention to detail in its creation leads to a gin with a fresh, piney juniper hit to the nose. The palate is smooth, with a hint of sweetness. It's full bodied and aromatic, and gives a seriously clean gin which coats the mouth perfectly. The finish is long and dry. Perfect Serve We think this is definitely a gin which is best served long in a gin & tonic. It works well with both Fever-Tree Mediterranean and Elderflower tonics (we like Mediterranean the best). Take a large glass filled with ice, and add 50ml of the gin. Gently pout over 150 - 200ml of your chosen tonic, and stir gently. Garnish with a large slice of grapefruit.

The Macallan 12 Year Double Cask Whisky Founded in 1824 (making it nearly 200 years old) The Macallan distillery is located in Craigellachie, Moray in Scotland. The Macallen is classed as the second or third best-selling single malt scotch (behind Glenfiddich, and perhaps Glenlivet). Initially The Macallan was only matured in oak sherry casks, which the distillery brought from Jerez de la Frontera in Spain. However in 2004 they introduced the Fine Oak series (now known as the Triple Cask Matured range), which started mellowing whisky in bourbon oak casks as well as the classic sherry casks. The Double Cask whiskies encompass part of their core range, and this 12 Year whisky falls into this category. The Macallan team ensure a mix of European and American sherry seasoned oak casks - which allow the indulgent, yet delicate flavours of the American oak to take centre stage. The more traditional Macallan character is however still present (rich fruit, sherry and spiced wood), but in a familiar backdrop.  This is a single malt with a delightful autumnal sunset colour to it. Exceptionally well balanced, fully rounded with flavours of honey, citrus and ginger. The nose has oak, creamy butterscotch and vanilla - as well as fruit from toffee apples and candied oranges. On the palate honey, citrus and wood spices and the ginger comes through, which are perfectly balanced against raisins and caramel. The finish leaves oak lingering on the palate along with a sweet warmth. More from The Macallan Perfect Serve As with all whiskies, this is best drunk how you personally enjoy it. However the distillery recommends trying with a single large piece of ice. Copper in the Clouds Mango & Black Pepper Gin Created in 'The Distillery at Dowsett's Farm', Copper in the Clouds gin is a small company creating premium gin's in Hertfordshire. Historically, Hertfordshire (a county just to the north of London) was the hunting ground of the British Royal family, and is still relatively rural with numerous forests. They create their gins using locally sourced premium wheat spirit. Where possible, they use locally grown and sourced botanicals, and have even started growing some of their own botanicals on the farm in their recently created botanical garden. This attention to detail ensures a quality, and unique range of gins which they can rightfully be proud of! Each of their bottles is a piece of art itself. With this gin, they capture a tiger and parrot enjoying a meal of mango and cracked black pepper. It was a 2014 study which inspired this gin. A group of food scientists was commisioned to find the best garnish for a G&T. As you might guess, the rather surprising result was a slice of mango and cracked black pepper. Copper in the Clouds felt this sounded particular good, but why stop at just a garnish! They have therefore infused fresh ripe mango, and the best peppercorns into their gin. The gin itself is deliciously fruity, with clear fresh mango flavour. The black pepper is subtle, and doesnt overpower the gin at all, rather tantalises the taste buds!
