SolSeraph is a strategy game in which we play the role of Helios - the Knight of Dawn, whose task is to rebuild human civilization and protect it from the attack of younger gods, sending various threats to humanity. ACE Team studio is responsible for the game, known primarily for such titles as the absurd Rock Of Ages, The Deadly Tower of Monsters or Zeno Clash. At the beginning, Chaos reigned, but thanks to the Mother Earth and the Father of Heaven, it was possible to subdue it and replace it with the world created by it. This is how the seas, lands, vegetation, animals and people were created. After completing the work, the two concluded that their work was finished and left. However, the rest of the younger gods in the world did not like the human being, especially since he was, on the contrary, gifted with the ability to tell stories. Due to jealousy, the wicked deities sent various calamities and threats to people in the form of bloodthirsty monsters, leading to the collapse of the nascent civilization and the dispersion of individual tribes. Helios - Knight of Dawn stood up in defense of the little ones. Playing his role, we have the task of protecting humanity from jealous gods. SolSeraph offers gameplay combining several elements, however, the tower defense strategy game and the action platform game come to the fore. A similar concept was used in the iconic ActRaiser. Strategic elements seen from above (Helios is more comfortable to look at and make decisions from this perspective) are related to the expansion of settlements of five different tribes and the construction of buildings so that they repel enemy attacks and provide the inhabitants with a prosperous life. It is up to us which building is sensitive at the moment - farms that provide food or barracks that recruit new soldiers, archers, and so on. Along with the development and expansion of our pupils, we remove the magic fog from the map and reveal the lairs of monsters. Once we discover the monsters' lair, we can take matters into our own hands and go ashore to deal with the attacking creatures. This is related to the second key element of the game, when we observe the action from the side perspective. Before us are traps, dangerous creatures and their nests, and the younger gods themselves. However, Helios, thanks to his well-mastered art of sword fighting, using a shield or archery, is properly prepared for it. Especially that with each destroyed nest and each killed jealous god he grows in strength and acquires new skills.

His incredible abilities prove indispensable when a certain Shell City is invaded by a mysterious army of the Phantom organization, headed by a masked leader. The invaders striving to completely destroy the metropolis must be stopped at all costs and this extremely important task falls on the shoulders of our elephant. In its assumptions, the game is a typical plaform cloth. As Tembo, we fight through a total of seventeen different levels, where single puzzles await us, but above all a lot of enemies to ram. Some of them require a bit more advanced strategies to ultimately fall under our weight, but basically all the fights come down to one thing - we need to demolish everything we can find in sight. We can use our fangs, momentum, or a special ability to roll towards enemies.

While playing, we meet many famous historical figures and have to face the events that took place in the past. We also have to take care of the economy, establish diplomatic and trade relations, and develop the technological level of our subordinates. In addition to managing our civilization, we spend a lot of time fighting, which also takes place in turns.  The authors have prepared a tactically developed battle system, taking into account e.g. topography and map objects. This approach also affects the strategic layer, as it is necessary, for example, to design cities so that they are easier to defend against attacks by enemy armies.

The fun is mainly about exploring locations, completing tasks, and fighting waves of enemies. The combat system is dexterous and very dynamic, but at the same time it does not lack a certain tactical layer - the right sense of rhythm is of great importance here; by delivering blows at the right pace, we can stun large groups of enemies. A number of mechanics known from the main installments of the Persona series return - for example, we can develop our personas (these are specific "ghosts" accompanying the heroes and responsible for their extraordinary abilities) by spending special points, gaining new ones (by lifting masks remaining after some defeated enemies), even combine them to create more powerful variants. The game also includes cards with skills that allow you to give a specific ability to a person. In the game, we have the opportunity to direct not only the Joker (who, like in Persona 5, has the unique ability to change persona during combat), but also many other characters - mainly members of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts team. It is up to the player, as the chosen representative of the nation, to discover the perpetrators and stop all this madness. However, the vice president will not be able to complete this task alone. Instead, it will have to enlist the help of the local population. Interestingly, Citizens of Earth allows you to recruit virtually every character you meet. Our team will therefore include, among others bakers, teachers, homeless people and waiters. During their adventures, all of these heroes will acquire experience points, which will not only make them more dangerous during battles, but also increase their effectiveness in regular competitions. This way, when we disconnect someone from the team, they will return to their position and help to improve the entire town. Thanks to this, we will get better stores, additional intelligence and new special items.
