Reliability Analysis with Minitab

Reliability Analysis with Minitab

Statistical Analysis for the Reliability Engineering ProfessionalEffectively conduct reliability analysis using the world’s leading statistical software. Reliability Analysis with Minitab® outlines statistical concepts and applications explains the theory of probability reliability analysis and quality improvement and provides step-by-step instruction on the use of Minitab. Minitab introduces reliability analysis tools that can be used to perform tasks that range from checking the distribution fit of lifetime data to estimating the warranty costs of a product. Perform the Analyses Needed to Minimize Product Failures and Reduce CostsChock full of examples that include numerous case studies and over 200 screenshots this book is a comprehensive guide to quality and reliability in the service and manufacturing industries. It illustrates the shapes of the most commonly used statistical distributions in reliability analysis and in simple language demonstrates concepts that include parametric reliability analysis nonparametric reliability analysis warranty analysis accelerated life testing reliability test plans and probit analysis. Illustrating the application of Minitab for reliability analysis this book explains how to: Perform reliability analysis of a product with right-censored and exact failure time data Complete reliability analysis of a product with arbitrarily censored failure time dataAchieve nonparametric reliability analysis of a productPredict the amount of money that is needed to cover the warranty costs for products in a specific period of time in the futureAnalyze the results from accelerated life testing on two different productsDetermine the reliability test sample size when the test time and the number of failures are constrainedRegulate the testing time when test sample size and the number of failures are constrainedCompare the reliabilities of parts from different vendorsTest whether the reliability of a product depends on certain factorsPredict the stress level at which a product will fail after a certain test period

Gestational Diabetes Origins Complications and Treatment

Gestational Diabetes Origins Complications and Treatment

Given the rapid increase in the worldwide incidence of gestational diabetes the need for defining the risks and effects associated with raised glucose concentrations in pregnancy is great. Recent large studies are helping to define the risks as well as identify the benefits of reducing glucose intolerance. Written by an esteemed list of international authors Gestational Diabetes: Origins Complications and Treatment presents timely reviews relating to some of the most important aspects of gestational diabetes specifically its causes consequences and treatments. Divided into five sections the book begins with a section on metabolism in pregnancy and gestational diabetes dealing with maternal and foetal glucose metabolism and the controversial area of what actually constitutes gestational diabetes. The next section examines risk factors and causes of gestational diabetes including the obvious but often overlooked factors—being female and pregnant. The text also outlines environmental and genetic risk factors. The third section deals with the potential complications of gestational diabetes for both mother and offspring considering short-term and long-term effects. The largest section in the book addresses treatments in an effort to improve the outcome for the mother and the baby. Chapters describe the nutritional approach considered the cornerstone of treating gestational diabetes as well as evidence for the role of exercise in its treatment and a useful strategy for treating gestational diabetes pharmacologically. The final section discusses future prospects in screening diagnosis prevention pathophysiology and treatment of gestational diabetes. | Gestational Diabetes Origins Complications and Treatment

Tubular String Characterization in High Temperature High Pressure Oil and Gas Wells

Tubular String Characterization in High Temperature High Pressure Oil and Gas Wells

High temperature high oil pressure oil and gas well completion testing have always been a technical challenge and basic theoretical research is one of the key factors needed to ensure a successful completion test. The completion test basic theory includes: a stress analysis of the completion string completion string buckling behavior and temperature and pressure distribution prediction. The completion string is the main bearing and power transmission component for oil and gas well operations and production and it is required to take on a combination of loads which result in completion string deformation. Because of these complex relationships completion string stress analysis has become increasingly more complicated. This book discusses the characters of tubular strings in HTHP (High Temperature - High Pressure) oil and gas wells. These characters include the mechanical behavior of tubular strings and the temperature and pressure variation of tubular strings in different conditions. Mathematical models are established for different conditions and solution existence and uniqueness of some models is discussed providing algorithms corresponding to the different models. Numerical experiments are presented to verify the validity of models and the feasibility of algorithms and the impact of the parameters of models for oil and gas wells is also discussed. This book is written for production and testing engineers to provide them with the tools to deal more effectively with the numerical decisions they have to take and for researchers and technicians in petroleum and gas testing and production engineering. Finally it is also intended to serve as a reference book for mathematicians college teachers and students. | Tubular String Characterization in High Temperature High Pressure Oil and Gas Wells
