Testing and Balancing HVAC Air and Water Systems

Testing and Balancing HVAC Air and Water Systems

This thoroughly revised book will provide the reader with an understanding of the principles and practices of testing and balancing (TAB) heating ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) air and water systems. It is for anyone interested in testing and balancing. For the novice and the experienced testing and balancing technician it is a field reference book of procedures equations and information tables. For those interested in getting into TAB or who are new to the HVAC industry it is a text for learning more about HVAC systems and testing and balancing. For the mechanical engineer building owner facility manager commissioning agency or energy manager this book can be used for teaching TAB writing more effective specifications and learning about TAB and how it interacts with system commissioning indoor air quality and energy management. It is the intent of this book to improve the communications between owners mechanical engineers designers vendors contractors TAB engineers supervisors and technicians to ensure that HVAC systems are being thoroughly tested and balanced. This book is used in test and balance self-study courses in-house training programs seminars and other training formats as preparation for TAB certification and as a text in colleges and technical schools. The sixth edition has general and specific testing and balancing procedures for constant air volume systems variable air volume systems return air and exhaust air systems positive and negative pressure conditioned spaces and fans and fan performance in Chapters 1 through 9. Chapters 10–12 cover testing and balancing fume hood systems and cleanrooms and commissioning HVAC systems. Chapters 13 and 14 provide information on water systems and centrifugal pumps including water balancing procedures using flow meters system components and temperatures and water pumps and pump performance. Chapter 15 reviews analog and digital controls. Chapters 16–20 cover terminology for fluid flow psychrometrics refrigeration¸ air distribution water distribution fans and pumps motors electrical and instrument usage and care. Chapters 21 and 22 are equations and tables. | Testing and Balancing HVAC Air and Water Systems

iURBAN Intelligent Urban Energy Tool

iURBAN Intelligent Urban Energy Tool

iURBAN: Intelligent Urban Energy Tool introduces an urban energy tool integrating different ICT energy management systems (both hardware and software) in two European cities providing useful data to a novel decision support system that makes available the necessary parameters for the generation and further operation of associated business models. The business models contribute at a global level to efficiently manage and distribute the energy produced and consumed at a local level (city or neighbourhood) incorporating behavioural aspects of the users into the software platform and in general prosumers. iURBAN integrates a smart Decision Support System (smartDSS) that collects real-time or near real-time data aggregates analyses and suggest actions of energy consumption and production from different buildings renewable energy production resources combined heat and power plants electric vehicles (EV) charge stations storage systems sensors and actuators. The consumption and production data is collected via a heterogeneous data communication protocols and networks. The iURBAN smartDSS through a Local Decision Support System allows the citizens to analyse the consumptions and productions that they are generating receive information about CO2 savings advises in demand response and the possibility to participate actively in the energy market. Whilst through a Centralised Decision Support System allow to utilities ESCOs municipalities or other authorised third parties to: Get a continuous snapshot of city energy consumption and productionManage energy consumption and productionForecasting of energy consumptionPlanning of new energy producers for the future needs of the cityVisualise analyse and take decisions of all the end points that are consuming or producing energy in a city level permitting them to forecast and planning renewable power generation available in the city. | iURBAN Intelligent Urban Energy Tool

Coiled Tubing and Other Stimulation Techniques Formation Damage Well Stimulation Techniques for Production Enhancement

Good engineers never stop looking for opportunities to improve the performance of their production systems. Performance enhancement methods are always carefully examined and production data is analyzed in order to identify determining factors affecting performance. The two main activities of the production engineer in the petroleum and related industries are reservoir stimulation and artificial lift. The classic solution to maximizing a well's productivity is to stimulate it. The basis for selecting stimulation candidates should be a review of the well's actual and theoretical IPR. Low permeability wells often need fracturing on initial completion. In low permeability zones additional post stimulation production can be significant to the economics however the production engineer needs to make management aware of the true long term potential or else overly optimistic projections can easily be made. The main purpose of stimulation is to enhance the property value by the faster delivery of the petroleum fluid and/or to increase ultimate economic recovery. The aim of reservoir stimulation is to bypass near-wellbore damage and return a well to its “natural” productivity / injectivity to extend a conductive path deep into a formation and thus increase productivity beyond the natural level and to produce hydrocarbon from tight formation. The importance of reservoir stimulation is increasing due to following reasons: • Hydrocarbon fields in their mid-life• Production in these fields are in declining trend• The thrust area: Enhancement of productionHence to improve productivity of the well matrix stimulation and hydraulic fracturing are intended to remedy or even improve the natural connection of the wellbore with the reservoir which could delay the need for artificial lift. This book presents procedures taken in the Oil & Gas Industry for identifying well problems and it suggests means of solving problems with the help of the Coil Tube unit which is used for improving well productivity and techniques like Acidizing and Hydraulic Fracturing. | Coiled Tubing and Other Stimulation Techniques Formation Damage Well Stimulation Techniques for Production Enhancement
