Patol ASD531 Single Sensor Standard Display with SSD531 DetectorThe ASD 531 Aspirating Smoke Detector is the new generation of a highly sensitive active smoke detection system. It is based on the successful ASD 535 and is particularly well suited for monitoring smaller areas and sampling distances where a reduced sampling pipe network is sufficient. The ASD 531 consists of a fan a highly sensitive smoke sensor an airflow measurement system and evaluation electronics. The fan draws in air through sampling holes from the room or facility being monitored and then through a sampling pipe to the evaluating processor unit.Here the air samples are continually monitored for smoke particles by the smoke sensor. Airflow monitoring ensures that the sampling pipe is constantly checked for pipe breakage and any obstruction of the sampling holes. The display and control panel of the evaluating processor unit indicates alarm fault and status reports. Any increase in the smoke concentration levels are detected very early. Three fixed pre-alarms and one main alarm which can be forwarded to a fire alarm control panel via volt free relays contacts.The ASD 531 is used whenever conventional point-type smoke detectors cannot be used. A series of user programmable DIL switches allows option selection including detector sensitivity settings automanual reset sequence selection and single coincidence voting from the four individual internal detection channels for the alarm trip and shutdown outputs.The Sensor Unit is located above the materials transit path e.g. conveyor by means of the adjustable mounting bracket and aligned such that the monitored hazard passes through the sensors field of view. The height and angle of the sensor determine the width of the monitored path.The Type 5020 Control Unit provides various indications and controls related to infra-red detection alarms and fault monitoring.The control module is easily de-mountable from the housing and connects to the sensor by means of a ten core screened shielded cable. These terminations together with supply and output contact connections are via two part screw terminals thus enabling installation of the housing and site cables prior to fitment of the module.
