The benefits of BCAA’s are well established and have been so within the weight training community for many years. However, it's only recently that BCAA's have become "in-vogue" again and it's all down to the great science supporting their effects and the versatility they offer, imparting their positive effects on a variety of athletes, not just bodybuilders. Over the last 20 years, BCAA's have had more comebacks than Sinatra did, but all for great reasons! They work and are supported by science in a far more solid way than many other "wonder supplements". Branched Chain Amino Acids consist of 3 essential amino acids Leucine, Iso-Leucine, and Valine. They are considered essential amino acids because human beings cannot survive unless these amino acids are present in the diet. Together they comprise approximately 1/3 of human muscle tissue. One of these BCAA's, Leucine is a real good guy when muscle-building is your primary goal and especially if you are cutting carbs or calories at the same time to achieve a lean physique.
