Super Magbot is a platform game developed by the independent studio Astral Pixel. The production, released by Team17, known for its cult series Worms, stands out from other items of this type due to the inability to jump.
Super Magbot takes us on a journey to the fictional galaxy Magnetia, the fate of which hung in a thread when it was targeted by a powerful villain. During the game, we take control of the title Super Magbot, an exploration robot on whose shoulders the task of dealing with this arch-villain and restoring the old order and order in the galaxy.
In Super Magbot, we observe the action from the side. Over a hundred different levels await you to visit. They consist of four unique worlds filled with various traps and obstacles. Each of them ends with a powerful boss, whose defeat requires proper use of the mechanics presented at a given stage.
Although the main character cannot jump due to his weight, he can quickly move across platforms and avoid dangers thanks to red and blue magnets, which are teeming with maps. A shot with a beam of the same color will push the Magbot away, while a beam of a different color will pull it back. As we progress, we discover new types of magnets; among their eight types we can find, among others, special launchers that repel the protagonist at high speed and those that allow the Magbot to hover in the air for a short time. There is also a bonus energy waiting for those who want to collect it, the collection of which requires reaching extremely hard-to-reach nooks of the boards.
Super Magbot has colorful, pixelart graphics referring to the golden age of 16-bit productions. The retro style is complemented by a catchy, chiptune soundtrack.
