Cotton satin black

Cotton satin black

Cotton satin - the best of both worldsHow about trying our soft cotton fabric in a range of beautiful colours for your next creative project. It's soft and comfortable to work with.Satin refers to the way the fabric is woven. This means that when we say cotton satin, it has the same beautiful weave as more 'classic' satin, while the cotton quality gives a more matt finish to the fabric.  And what can you use cotton satin for? Well, that’s entirely up to you. We prefer using it for bed linen. The natural material of the cotton in the delicate satin weave makes for some really lovely home made bed linen. As with so many other cottons, it is also suitable for clothing. Cotton is comfortable to wear and the fine weave gives it a nice finish - for a summer shirt or skirt, for example. Cotton satin is also perfect for a tablecloth for the table. Sew the tablecloth yourself or select "Sew as a tablecloth" and we will sew it for you (click on the text for details). Practical information about cotton satinMade from 100% cotton, it's soft and fluffy and, as always, you buy the fabric by the metre, so you get exactly the length you need. The fabric is 145 cm wide, has a weight of 130 grams and shrinks about 8% in the wash. You can wash it at 60° and iron at medium heat - but avoid the tumble dryer; let it air dry instead. TIP: Finish your seams properly - satin tends to fray a lot. You could also consider using a wider seam allowance to secure your seams or use overlock stitching. As always - test your seams on a scrap piece beforehand to see which technique works best for your piece of fabric. Search "9 tips for sewing satin" for more tips. What is satin? Satin refers to the way the fabric is woven, where one side of the material is smooth and shiny. For this satin we recommend that you use a size 70 universal needle. What is STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®?OEKO-TEX® is the world-leading label for textiles tested for harmful substances.Once the fabric has achieved a STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certification, it is your guarantee it has been tested and approved not to contain any harmful chemicals.Meaning it is neither harmful to you nor your health and it’s less harmful to the environment.

Stunning in crepe and pattern! Patterns have a special touch. They add personality and vivacity to your design. Coupled with the exquisite crepe effect, you get a fabric that you can use for a myriad of designs.   Are you into a simple top or blouse? Or perhaps skirts or dresses with a swish in the skirt? Or even flowing trousers? The lovely patterns and the understated crepe effect yield a delightful outcome, especially for the simplest designs.   The elegant crepe effect  The characteristic wrinkles in the fabric come from a heat treatment that disrupts the smooth structure of the fibres, resulting in a refined surface. Creped viscose still retains the same favourable properties you know from the smooth viscose: It's soft, lightweight, breathable, and drapes beautifully.   What is viscose? Viscose has been used in clothing for over 100 years. The fabric consists of processed and regenerated cellulose from sources like wood pulp or cotton waste. It resembles natural fibres such as cotton and silk.   A few practical details Be aware of how much the fabric may shrink when washed.   Remember to use the right needles – we recommend using a universal needle or a microtex needle in size 70.   What is STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®? OEKO-TEX® is the world's leading health label for textiles.  When the fabric is certified according to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, it's your guarantee that it has been tested, approved, and is free from any harmful chemicals.

Sew Your Own Rainwear When sewing your own rainwear, choosing the right material is essential to ensure your new rainwear keeps you dry. This fabric is a good choice, as you get a quality that is lightweight, practical, windproof and waterproof with a water column pressure of 5,000 mm.  Choose from several beautiful colours.  Rainwear That Fits Design rainwear that's not just functional, but also stylish and personal. When you sew your own rainwear, you have the opportunity to tailor it to your needs and preferences. Adjust the design to fit your exact figure and add pockets and other details to suit your needs.  To ensure your rainwear remains waterproof, it's important to seal the seams by making the correct stitches: Search for "seam tape for rainwear fabric" and find a free guide.  About Water Column Pressure Water column pressure indicates how large a column of water the material can withstand before water begins to penetrate. The higher the water column pressure, the more waterproof it is. A good rule of thumb is that +2,000 mm is good for light rain showers/short trips in the rain, while +5,000 is for a heavier rain shower or a couple of hours with light rain. If you're going to be out in heavy rain, we recommend +8,000 mm.  Some Practical Information This fabric consists of 65% polyester and 35% polyurethane.
