Ilex x Nellie R.Stevens (Holly) - Standard Pleached

Ilex x Nellie R.Stevens (Holly) - Standard Pleached

The Ilex x Nellie R.Stevens is a holly plant that is a cross between English holly ilex aquifolium and Chinese holly ilex cornuta. The plant itself with its beautiful glossy green leaves and red berries has always been traditionally seen in Europe and America as Christmas holly and used in some European countries to ward off evil spirits by hanging them above the doorway. The flowering period is April where it usually starts to blossom its small white flowers and during the Autumn-Winter period, the actual berries themselves start to form. It is a bushy plant with a fast growth speed. It does not requiring maintenance but a quick trim in the summer could help if the leaves get a bit too long. The hardiness of this plant at H6 is perfect for the British climate and only during the extreme cold do you need to shelter it. Be careful of pests and potentially the holly leaf disease with this plant. Be careful not to eat the berries, no matter how inviting they may seem, as they could cause potentially a minor stomach upset if ingested. Ficus Carica (Edible Common Fig Tree) – Half Standard - Extra

Ficus Carica (Edible Common Fig Tree) – Half Standard - Extra

The Fig Tree (Ficus Carica) Extra is an eye-catching Mediterranean plant that makes a brilliant centrepiece for any garden, with its smooth grey-barked trunk and lush foliage. Its attractive large leaves have 3-5 lobes and are known for their pleasant fragrance. The fig tree is a deciduous tree which originates in the Middle East and is native to Syria and Persia where it grows among rocks and scrub on hot dry soils. However fig trees have been cultivated in the UK for over 2000 years since Roman times and the fig tree is well adapted to our climate to the extent that it can self-propagate in the mild SW regions. Ficus carica is resistant to frost and will re-grow from root level in spring if hard frost damage cause it to die back. The fig tree grows best in an area that is sheltered but receives plenty of sun, which is why many gardeners successfully plant figs near or next to a South-facing wall in the UK. Fig trees need well-drained soil and won’t do well in shade. Most fig trees benefit from starting off in pots before being introduced to garden beds when they are strong enough and are starting to outgrow their constricted environment. When potted it is essential to water your plant regularly but avoid over-watering. Once mature the fig tree will thrive in moist or dry soil and can tolerate drought. The fig tree usually bears fruits from early summer to September producing abundant dark violet, green or black figs in hot summers. Ficus Carica is ideal for container cultivation as it needs to have its roots restricted for optimum fruit crop; otherwise it will bear more leaves than fruit. It is rather hardy to the UK climate, standing at H4 on the scale. However it would be best to shelter this plant during extreme cold temperatures, particularly in Scotland. The plant itself is generally pest and disease free. Follow the guidelines for when to prune this plant. The final height is 6 m (19.6 ft) and the final spread is 4.5 m (14.7 ft) Product Dimensions 500-600 litre pot: trunk height 80 – 120 cm (2.6-3.9 ft), trunk girth 50 - 55 cm (1.6 - 1.8 ft), canopy app. 180 - 250 cm (5.9 - 8.2 ft) Latin Names: Ficus Carica Brown Turkey English Names: Edible Common Fig Tree Species: Moraceae Genus: Ficus Foliage Type: Deciduous Foliage: Green Suggested Location: Outdoors Suggested Soil Type: Well-drained, Moist but well-drained. Taxus Baccata (English Yew) – 3 Balls

Taxus Baccata (English Yew) – 3 Balls

A striking 3 ball topiary fashioned from Taxus baccata (English Yew), one of the best topiary species on account of its long life, dense dark green foliage and its ability to tolerate very severe pruning. The slow growth rate of English Yew means an added advantage as yew topiary only needs to be clipped once a year in late summer to maintain its shape. Taxus Baccata - conifer with main horizontal branches and secondary branches short and weeping. If left to grow freely and if it has enough space it will become a broadly conical tree with spreading, horizontal branches. Male cones are yellow in spring, followed by beautiful red fruit. Grows well in fertile, well drained soil including chalky and acid soil. Withstands being covered by old trees. Used a lot for hedges because it tolerates severe, repeated pruning and it is also for this reason that this plant is used for creating geometric shapes and Giant Garden Bonsai. No regular pruning is required but trimming and shaping throughout the spring and summer months is advisable. The hardy rating is (H7) making this plant perfect all year throughout the UK. Fruit can grow in the Autumn time but it is advisable not to eat anything due to high levels of toxicity associated with this plant. Ponytail Palm (Beaucarnea Recurvata)

Beaucarnea Recurvata (commonly known as the Ponytail Palm or Elephant’s Foot) is an exotic, eye-catching plant that can thrive as a potted feature in UK gardens or conservatories, given the right conditions. Despite its tropical origins, it adapts well to the UK's climate when cared for properly, particularly as an indoor or sheltered outdoor plant. This unique plant is characterised by its bulbous trunk, which stores water, making it highly drought-tolerant. Its long, curly, strap-like leaves cascade like a fountain, giving it a striking ornamental quality. Its low-maintenance nature and dramatic aesthetic make it an excellent choice for gardeners who want an exotic focal point without the fuss. The combination of its architectural shape and slow growth means it will be a conversation starter for years to come, whether in your garden or home. Lagerstroemia Indica (Crape Myrtle) - Extra

Lagerstroemia Indica (Crape Myrtle) - Extra

Lagerstroemia Indica are deciduous, have a rapid growth rate, and are often seen in their multi-stemmed form. They will grow in almost any kind of soil: sand, loam or clay, although it prefers moist, well-drained soil and full sunlight. This plant is easily transplanted and is drought and alkaline tolerant, but it does have pest and disease problems. It is even possible to grow them in containers if they are watered and fertilized properly.  They will grow in partial shade, however, the best flowering will occur on plants that receive more than 6 hours of direct sun. This plant blooms from June until fall, and to promote flower bloom, it is best to trim off seed pods. Fall color is not very impressive because the tree is tropical and loses it's leaves early. This plant can be grown as a street tree with ground cover underneath, as an espalier, or as a specimen.  Latin Name: Lagerstroemia Indica English Name: Crape Myrtle Crepe Family: Lythraceae Foliage Type: Deciduous Foliage: Green Flower: Pink Suggested Location: Outdoor Suggested Soil Type: Chalk.
