Mathematical Modelling of Heat Transfer Performance of Heat Exchanger using Nanofluids

Mathematical Modelling of Heat Transfer Performance of Heat Exchanger using Nanofluids

The book presents a detailed discussion of nanomaterials nanofluids and application of nanofluids as a coolant to reduce heat transfer. It presents a detailed approach to the formulation of mathematical modelling applicable to any type of case study with a validation approach and sensitivity and optimization. Covers the aspects of formulation of mathematical modelling with optimization and sensitivity analysis Presents a case study based on heat transfer improvement and performs operations using nanofluids Examines the analysis of experimental data by the formulation of a mathematical model and correlation between input data and output data Illustrates heat transfer improvement of heat exchangers using nanofluids through the mathematical modelling approach Discusses applications of nanofluids in cooling systems This book discusses the aspect of formulation of mathematical modelling with optimization and sensitivity analysis. It further presents a case study based on the heat transfer improvement and performing operations using nanofluids. The text covers sensitivity analysis and analysis from the indices of the model. It also discusses important concepts such as nanomaterials applications of nanomaterials and nanofluids. It will serve as an ideal reference text for senior undergraduate and graduate students in fields including mechanical engineering chemical engineering aerospace engineering industrial engineering and manufacturing engineering. | Mathematical Modelling of Heat Transfer Performance of Heat Exchanger using Nanofluids

A Feminist Approach to Sensitive Research Designing the Clay Embodiment Research Method

A Feminist Approach to Sensitive Research Designing the Clay Embodiment Research Method

This book explores the development and implementation of the Clay Embodiment Research Method (CERM) with one of the most stigmatized oppressed and marginalized groups of women in Nepal: sex-trafficked women. It argues for the use of a feminist approach to such research given the prevailing patriarchal norms cultural sensitivity of reproductive health stigmatization of sex trafficking and low literacy of the women involved. Beginning with an exploration of the author’s relationship with Nepal and the women who guide the study and the realization that a more accessible research approach was needed than the techniques otherwise commonly used it discusses the use of clay and photography as ideal entry points to engaging with the women in the research and creating this ethical methodology for self-empowerment. Not only does the volume highlight extraordinary insights offered by the women involved in this study through the application of CERM but also the recognition that its use requires expertise that can deal with the potential elicitation of trauma. The book makes the case for further study on improving the method’s use in research education and therapy involving low-literate stigmatized oppressed and marginalized populations particularly where cultural sensitivity is an important consideration. A Feminist Approach to Sensitive Research is suitable for students scholars and researchers in Gender Studies Sociology Health Studies Anthropology and Asian Studies. | A Feminist Approach to Sensitive Research Designing the Clay Embodiment Research Method

Decommissioning Health Physics A Handbook for MARSSIM Users Second Edition

Experienced Guidance on the Technical Issues of Decommissioning ProjectsWritten by one of the original MARSSIM authors Decommissioning Health Physics: A Handbook for MARSSIM Users Second Edition is the only book to incorporate all of the requisite technical aspects of planning and executing radiological surveys in support of decommissioning. Extensively revised and updated it covers survey instrumentation detection sensitivity statistics dose modeling survey procedures and release criteria. New to the Second EditionChapter on hot spot assessment that recognizes appropriate dosimetric significance of hot spots when designing surveys and includes a new approach for establishing hot spot limitsChapter on the clearance or release of materials highlighting aspects of the MARSAME manualRevised chapter on characterization survey design to reflect guidance in ANSI N13. 59 on the value of data quality objectives (DQOs)Updated regulations and guidance documents throughout Updated survey instrumentation used to support decontamination and decommissioning (D&D) surveys including expanded coverage of in situ gamma spectrometersRevised statistics chapter that includes an introduction to Bayesian statistics and additional double sampling and ranked set sampling statistical approachesMore case studies and examples throughout Implement the Surveys Effectively and Avoid Common PitfallsWith more than 20 years of experience as a practitioner in the decommissioning survey field author Eric W. Abelquist prepares you for the technical challenges associated with planning and executing MARSSIM surveys. He discusses the application of statistics for survey design and data reduction and addresses the selection of survey instrumentation and detection sensitivity. Thermal Analysis of Pharmaceuticals

Thermal Analysis of Pharmaceuticals

As a result of the Process Analytical Technologies (PAT) initiative launched by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) analytical development is receiving more attention within the pharmaceutical industry. Illustrating the importance of analytical methodologies Thermal Analysis of Pharmaceuticals presents reliable and versatile characterization tools for the successful development of pharmaceutical products. It draws attention to the most widely applicable methods and demonstrates how to interpret the associated data. The book opens with the first three chapters devoted to differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) the most commonly used thermal method. These chapters cover the principles optimal use and pharmaceutical applications of the method. Subsequent chapters explore modulated temperature DSC thermogravimetric analysis thermal microscopy microcalorimetry high sensitivity DSC dynamic mechanical analysis and thermally stimulated current all of which have attracted great interest within the pharmaceutical field. The chapters include theoretical background measurement optimization and pharmaceutical applications of each technique. Exploring important techniques for characterizing the physical structure and properties of pharmaceutical materials Thermal Analysis of Pharmaceuticals achieves an ideal balance in the depth relevance and accessibility of topics presented. The book provides an excellent overview of this key area in pharmaceutical development.
