P Tchaikovsky: None But The Longing Heart
None But The Longing Heart (Often translated as None But The Lonely Heart ) is a song for solo Voice with Piano accompaniment. Written in 1869, it is the last in a collection of six Romances that formed the composer's opus 6. The words were originally written in German by Goethe, and translated into Russian by Lev Mey. The English words have been produced here by E. Teschemacher. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840 - 1893) is one of the best-known Russian composers in the west. He was the first Russian composer to write in the European style, generating criticism from his peers for abandoning the Russian cultural heritage, but gathering acclaim across both Europe and America.
