The insert works together with the FS-KDM+ insert to store, in addition to the main game, many of the game's expansions. With the boards and top tray removed you can see underneath the next layer of token trays. Underneath the token trays and board can be seen the card trays. These are split to have different storage capacities for the different kinds of cards. There is room for all cards to be sleeved. The token trays have been made to be single large trays. This means the tokens can be removed quickly and placed on the game board so that you can easily access the card trays underneath. There are slots for all the token types, and additional slots for tokens and tiles from expansions. There are also trays for the larger terrain tiles and the settlement event cards. The cards can be sleeved. Each of the card trays can store sleeved cards, and is made to be removable from the box when needed. The access holes in the tray dividers are off set so that the black card dividers that come with the game can still be used and read while in the tray. The gear card trays can either be used for gear cards or for the standard sized cards. There is a cut in the side of the tray so the cards can be accessed. Again all cards can be sleeved with quality sleeves. When the trays are used for the larger cards, the total storage capacity for large cards is increased to 1,490 sleeved cards. The smaller gear card slot can be used then for storing the dividers no longer needed if you put your gear cards in a binder. This product consists of a flat-pack of 12 Evacore sheets. The large food and drink tray is built with taller walls to store the larger pieces and new food types. The tray for money bills is re-worked to store tokens and tiles. There are two trays for storing the four building types, a tray for the superproject tiles and small cards to be stored vertically. There are three large card trays for the leader and player aid cards, the doomsday cards and the expansion cards. The last tray is for keeping the timeline tiles tidy. All cards can be sleeved. The boards and rules go on top of the trays acting as a lid, allowing the game to be stored vertically. This game has a lot of boards and larger tile components, and it is important to stack them correctly to allow the box lid to close flush with the box base. First goes the folded main board. This is followed by the folded doomsday and adventure boards, and to the left of these the exosuit upgrade and path boards are stacked, with the scoring pad on top of them. This raises the level to the same height as the next layer of trays, so that the player boards can be placed on top. Then go the guardian and evacuation action boards, followed finally by the rules. The insert can be placed in either the base game box or any of the large expansion boxes. It also has two different layouts depending on whether you need more token storage or more game mats. The main tray is for cards, and it has various recesses in it to eases access to other trays and allow for storage of mats. All the card trays are sized for sleeved cards. The mats that come with the expansions can be stored in a number of ways depending on how you want to use the insert. They can be placed in a stack in the bottom corner as shown, and the second triangular tray can used to hold them in place. Alternatively they can be placed on top of the cards in the main card tray, where the dividers have a special recess sized to store them.When packing the box, first place the Trash board on top of the large card tray in the recess provided for this. There are two trays for the coins, a tray for the clan tiles, and a tray for the port bonus tiles, scoring tiles, and other game pieces. The coin trays work equally well with either the card coins from the base game or the alternative metal coins. The game boards need to be placed in the box in the following sequence. First go the player boards in a recess on the right hand side of the insert. Then go the rules, followed by the market and export boards. The map boards and MacDonald tile go last, with the player aids and score sheet next to them. this fills the box to the top, and with the lid closed flush the box can be stored vertically. The insert design also works with the original edition of the game, where the player boards are narrower being only 10 cm wide. When used with this edition the long export contract tray is assembled differently and is placed the other way round in the box as shown below. The tray for the goal and damage tokens works similarly to the credit token tray but has a raised base. This raised base allows the tray to fit into the insert as a filler to keep the boards and ship sheets in place. When packing the box you have to add all the map tiles, player boards and ship sheets into the space provided on top of the character standee tray. This works best with the player boards on the bottom and the other tiles/sheets added on top as shown. Lastly add the three rule books on top of everything.
