The authentic Cobra Table Lamp is of the most iconic designs by Greta M. Grossman. The table lamp was originally designed in the 1950s and takes its name from the shape of the oval shade, which is reminiscent of a cobra's neck. Due to its groundbreaking design, the Cobra Table Lamp won the Good Design Award in the same decade and was subsequently exhibited at the Good Design Show at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. The Cobra Table Lamp is a classic and yet unique lamp that with its tubular flexible arm can be bent in all directions, allowing the shade to be rotated through 360º. With its distinctive style and inspiration taken from Corsini's iconic PD2 Floor Lamp, the H2O light brings life and character to any interior space. Barba Corsini was in 1955 assigned to remodel the attics of the prominent Antoni Gaudí landmark La Pedrera. Used as a laundry room and a storage area, Corsini transformed the space into 13 modern apartments. To complete the architectural experience, Corsini specifically designed and decorated the apartments with his own designs, inspired by the characteristic appearance of the building. In 1991, it was decided that the loft space of La Pedrera should be restored according to the original conception of Gaudí. The interior made by Corsini was torn down and most of it thrown away. During the renovation, the architect and gallerist, Joaquim Ruiz Millet, discovered the PD2 Floor Lamp and saved it from being thrown in the trash. Ruiz Millet started to collaborate with Corsini and his designs, and recreated the original pieces, specifically in order to support rescuing his work, make it more known and available for the public.

Now remastered by GUBI after almost half a century, the new collection comprises two table lamps, two floor lamps and a new pendant – a simple inversion of the original design – in a contemporary yet authentic color palette. Today’s Stemlite remains true to Curry’s designs, comprising three of the original heights: two table heights, one of which was originally conceived as a floor lamp and the original floor lamp height. A second, taller floor lamp has been added and a pendant light has been engi- neered by simply flipping the original design upside-down.
