Another Way Home

“Another Way Home” is a pop-tune written originally for Concert Band. It’s a kind of sequel to the previously released “Walking Home”. Both “Another Way Home” and “Walking Home” were composed for Blåsmasters, a Swedish Concert Band based in Stockholm.

'Letter from Home was commissioned as a patriotic work in 1944 by Paul Whiteman and his Radio Hall of Fame Orchestra. Composed toward the end of the Second World War, this music suggests the emotions of a soldier reading aletter from home. In Charge was commissioned by the Home Guard Band of Eksjö to honour Thomas Samuelsson, whose efforts with the orchestra have been of great significance. He was a driving person within Swedish military music and furthermore project manager for Eksjö International Tattoo. Thomas worked at Eksjö Energy and the title of this work hints both to his occupation and his administrative leadership in the band. The first part of this concert march concentrates a lot on syncopation, while the second part is more robust with a traditional and lyrical trio part. In Charge was premiered by the Home Guard Band of Eksjö on the 22th of December 2018, conducted by Maria Sandberg.

Zelkova is a symbolic tree of Sendai City, home town of the commissioning wind band “The Tohoku Fukushi University Wind Ensemble”. This composition is dedicated to the band’s conductor Taiken Matsuzakiand and the music reflects his generouspersonality.
