Peter Kleine Schaars’ new composition, on the other hand, will provide some healthy food for the soul and mind. Fast Food features four courses: Pizza Pronto, presenting Italian delights, Crazy Kebab, Arabian delicacies, the American Cheese Burger, and an exciting Hot Dog Disco. Bon appetite!

Scherzo: Cat and Mouse

The “cat and mouse chase” has been a part of folklore and popular culture since the time of pharaohs in ancient Egypt. Over the ages, the chase has served as a metaphor for the suspenseful and sometimes alternating relation between hunter and hunted. In the modern age, the story has been played out hundreds of times in popular animated cartoons, often accompanied by a musical score representing the energetic spirit of the chase with lively twists and turns, sudden surprises and tongue-in-cheek music. In this spirit of playfulness and suspense, Robert Spittal has created a marvelous work that is both entertaining and exhilarating.

The Pet Shop Boys are one of the finest examples of an English electro pop group. Since their formation in the early 1980s they have had 38 top 40 hits in the UK and are still often in the charts today. This highly inventive duo owes their long-term career to the ability to bridge melodic pop and dance music with intelligence and style. Go West was one of their hits from 1993 and this arrangement by Ron Sebregts retains all the splendor of the original. A fantastic pop arrangement which will have all your audience dancing in the aisles.

The Gibson Les Paul Standard 1958-1960 is one of the greatest designs to emerge from Gibson. At first, it was little appreciated and quickly discontinued. However, the UK blues explosion of the 1960s changed everything and these guitars would begin to shape the music for generations to come. The USA quickly picked up this new direction and players such as Mike Bloomfield and Duane Allman then used the Bursts to great effect. Demand for the guitar began in earnest in the 1970s and they now fetch astronomical prices. The Gibson Custom Shop is working diligently on many aspects of their historic Les Pauls bringing them as close to the originals as possible. Not only did the playersmake this the most collectable guitar in the vintage market but collectors and weekend players played a huge role in its cimb to the top. Visually, it is probably one of the most beautiful solid body guitars ever made.

Suite Marchigiana

According to a famous statement by Herder, folk songs represent the archives of a nation’s knowledge, the expression of its heart and theimage that reflects its history and identity. Suite Marchigiana is a three movement piece, inspired by folk songs from the Marche in central Italy, a region with a very ancient and rich folkloristic heritage. The first movement elaborates on the well-known Pasquella. The Pasquella comes from a traditional winter begging ritual where a group of musicians go from house to house singing verses, wishing their audience good health, wealth and abundance, in return for small amounts of money, food and wine. The second movementis an Andante Triste inspired by an old song called Sona la mezzanotte (The Clock Strikes Midnight), a melancholic song that reminds us of unhappy love stories, bereavement, and so on. Luciano Feliciani concludes the suite with the Saltarello Marchigiano, which is bright and sparkling, and therefore in complete contrast with the previous movement. Although unproven, the Saltarello is thought to have its origins in the 'saltatio' (a latin dance). While the choreae were group dances, circular in structure and with a rhythmic progression, the saltationes were more lively in character. The fast, frenetic and joyous saltarello was without any doubt the most famous musical expression of rural central Italy in the nineteenth century.

They produced leaflets protesting against the National Socialist government of Germany in 1942-3 until they were arrested and guillotined.?Soar to Heaven? follows two characters, Wu and Zhou, involved on opposite sides of the Cultural Revolution in China.?The Oxford Revolution? tells the story of James Meredith, who fought a lonely battle against segregation and racial prejudice to become the first black student to enrol at ?Ole Miss?, the University of Mississippi, in the USA.Librettist's Note.There are, inevitably and properly, some differences between the original libretto and what Max ultimately set to music. Most of these are insignificant, but all the Latin texts in the opera were added by Max, and texts for the alternating black / white choruses (Scene 19) and final chorus (Scene 28) were written by him.
